I am putting this chair together now, but I cannot get the seat to raise...what am I doing wrong?

You should be able to pull the lever up and adjust the seat. If it's not working then make sure everything is assemble correctly. If it is then perhaps there's a problem with your chair's hydraulic system.

what is the height from the ground to where the legs meet the upright?

All the way down the seat height at bottom edge is 18" - my helight is 5'7" and my legs are average so the top of my knees sitting on it is 20.5".When hydraulic lift is adjusted all the way up the seat height at bottom edge is 23.5" - my height is 5'7" and my legs are average so the top of my knees sitting on it is 28".Keep in mind it is not either or, the hydraulic lift allows adjustable heights in between.I love this stool it rolls around easily and looks good.

I want to replace casters with brake casters. What is the length of shaft and diameter of hole that casters fit into?

I just pulled mine out & they're about 3/4 or 7/8 of an inch. If you already have the chair just pull caster out & take it w/you!

What specific screws can I buy to replace my screws that fell out? They loosen too quickly.

I don't know what size srews. Take one that fell out to the hardware store. They can match it. I've had my hair for over 5 years and never have lost a screw. I use it everyday.
