Decorative Storage Unfinished Wood Box By Woodcaser – Durable Linden Wood & Finger Joints – Sliding Lid – Ideal For Arts & Crafts, 9" x 12" Letters, Jewelry, Photos, Keepsakes & More

This item arrived beautifully packed in a larger cardboard shipping container and was in perfect condition. It is made of very light and soft wood, almost like balsa. I have three quibbles with the box:1) There are two small square holes at the rear of the box, at the top of the finger joints for each of the sides. You may be able to plug and sand these holes with some sort of filler if you are using the box strictly for storage, or will paint it.2) The lid slides fairly well, but I can't imagine using any finish on the box--like paint--that would add any thickness to the surfaces because I suspect the lid would no longer slide in and out. I think you would have to avoid using any finish on the grooves the lid slide into, and also avoid the sides of the lid that slide into these grooves.3) There is an adhesive sticker on the bottom of the box that is about 1.5 x 2 inches. It is extremely difficult to get this off without damaging the soft wood. It took me a long time to remove this, using fingernails, a small knife, and iso alcohol. If you want to use this as a decorative box and/or as a gift, you will have to deal with this sticker. Since the wood is so soft, you will have to be careful not to scratch the wood.P.S. Unlike many reviewers, I did not get a discount on this purchase in exchange for an honest. I paid full price and this is my honest review.

I bought this box to modify it as a pochade box for painting outdoors. It's sturdy but pretty lightweight measured at only 23.48oz. My box's bottom panel is actually 5mm (6/32") as to the advertised 4mm, which I'm happy about since I need a sturdy base for the modification I need to attach a 1/4-20 tee nut for a tripod. The lid (about 4.5mm thick) slides nicely that I'll be able to use as a sliding tray or place a 9x12 palette directly on top. The solid side thick wood panels are excellent for accommodating hardware & screws. The first box I ordered had an issue with a chipped corner but the customer service was excellent for a prompt replacement.

I purchased this box with the idea of transferring all of my keepsake items like photos, etc. from an old shoe box. It's very roomy and well constructed. he lid slides on and off easily, but wouldn't slide off if you held the box vertically- it stays in place. I'm really excited to possibly stain it in the future, but honestly it looks really nice unfinished. I would definitely reccomend this item and seller.

Very nicely made box. Size dimension was incorrect. Size is 12.56 inches and not 12 in.² as advertised, requiring me to cut another piece of plexiglass to fit the top, in order to make a light box which was the reason for the purchase

Lid gets stuck alot. Had a corner that was missing a small piece of wood. But otherwise a good product.

I used this case to make a memory/keepsake box for my nephew's birthday. It is a very well-constructed box and the corners are made to stay together, even when covered with multiple coats of paint.

The second time ordering these boxes and both came with defective lids. both were warped and unable to close completely.

Great box, I modified this box for my watercolor painting box.It is very light and work very well for me.
