Army Painter: Fur Brown Primer

I thought it will be darker but it was not that dark as I expected. Either way it works as should. On the can you can read how to use and how to open however it didn’t mention how long to wait approximate to dry so by eyes you need to check if the paint is dried. Otherwise I am satisfied with the product.

Ich habe jetzt die erste Dose Fur Brown leer gesprüht und muss sagen das mich die ergebnisse nicht überzeugen können. Im normalfall nutze ich andere Hersteller wie citadel oder AK, die wirklich hervorragende Spray's produzieren. Ich musste nun leider auf Army Painter zurückgreifen da Furbrown von keinem anderen Hersteller so recht zu finden war. Was stört mich? Zu erst seih hier einmal das Sprüh Cap erwähnt. Mal abgesehen von der untypischen 90's form die wirklich sehr schnell sehr unangenehm wird, ist der Sprühnebel nicht zu gebrauchen. Dieses Cap wurde direkt gegen ein Professionelles Cap getauscht. Als nächstes stört mich die Konsistenz der Farbe, diese wirkt sehr gummi artig, was zum einen dazu führt das der Sprühnebel unregelmäßig ist und dadurch ein sehr dicker auftrag stattfindet wenn das Modell vollständig gefärbt werden muss. Das Trocknen dauert auf jedenfall mindestens 24h, die Farbe scheint bereits früher trocken zu sein aber das täuscht.. bei längerem kontakt mit tisch/unterlage/hand entwickelt die Farbe auch nach 12h noch eine ungehäuerliche Klebekraft was teilweise zu unschönen stellen führen kann. sobald das modell tatsächlich trocken ist, glänzt das Modell ungewöhnlich stark - fast als würde es sich bei dem Modell um Kinderspielzeug handeln. Die getrocknete farbe macht aber einen robusten Eindruck. Mein Fazit: Das Produkt ist Brandgefährlich für Anfänger die vermutlich schnell zu dieser marke Greifen da der Preis etwas geringer ist. Das ist aber ein großer Fehler, da ein Anfänger ohne Sprüherfahrung seine Modelle versaut bevor er überhaupt einen Pinsel in der Hand hatte. Das ist sehr schade und vermittelt ein völlig falsches Bild von Sprühprimer. Meine Empfehlung geht hier klar an die Citadel Spray cans die ein unfassbar gutes finish erziehlen ohne auch nur im geringsten details zuzuschmieren. Ich traue mich sogar zu behaupten das selbst anfänger ohne Probleme Professionelle Ergebnisse erziehlen können - ein wenig Grundverständniss vorausgesetzt.

Be aware this product does not produce a matt finish as stated, but dries a with a distinct sheen. Furthermore, despite warming the paint can in warm water and shaking it vigorously for 2-minutes before use, the paint rendered a strange granular texture rather than a fine totally smooth finish; it also rubbed off with light finger pressure after leaving it to dry overnight. The spray head nozzle is not sufficiently fine, which results in the paint being delivered in very broad span that is difficult to control. The coverage is not even although it was applied it in two thin coats and left to dry throughly before re-coating. The paint also coagulates around fine detail on the miniatures (I primarily build and paint 28mm scale figures from the ranges produced Victrix Ltd, Warlord Games and Perry Brothers), and obscuring it. In over 40-years of fine scale military modelling this is without doubt the worst spray paint I have ever used and the quickest way to spoil your miniature figures!! I tried it as an alternative to the Citadel spray paints, which I have used for a number of years and found to be both excellent for coverage, finish and durability; however, these have become considerably more expensive. In my opinion by far the best spray paint currently available is the excellent range produced by Colour Forge, which are colour matched to the ranges from Army Painter, Vallejo and Citadel ranges; Colour Forge spray paints are supplied in 500ml cans, as opposed to the 400ml cans from Army Painter and Citadel, making them proportionally the cheapest option too. The paint is delivered in a controllable manner, rendering a clean, even coat that leaves the fine sculpted detail of the figures crisp and clear; it also dries quickly to a true, flat matt finish making it perfect as an undercoat as a first stage of the painting process.

Army Painter spray on paint is my favorite. Always sprays evenly and the color is exactly as it is represented on the cap. I use chaos red to simulate the anti fouling color on military ship models. It works well on plastic.

I ordered Fur Brown. The paint did not come out evenly, sort of sputtered and left splatters in addition to the mist. (And yes I did shake it thoroughly). Seemed to take a lot of spraying to get the job done. The splatters dried raised, requiring sanding to knock them down. In my experience, Rustoleum or even Behr spray products are more successfully applied. Too bad. Wanted to like this product but did not.
