Sunfish Owners Manual: Buy, Sail, Maintain, Repair and Sell your Sunfish

Great book! As a new Sunfish owner, I highly recommend it!
This is a fantastic book.Kent writes from the perspective of someone who restores and sails Sunfishes, with emphasis on the restoration. As a result, it's a detailed look at the boat and how the Sunfish is made, including all the parts, and how they've changed over the years. There's a bit about sailing, but if you're looking for a sailing primer, look elsewhere. That said, there are plenty of volumes written about sailing, and Kent has highlighted ways in which the Sunfish is different from generic sailboats (how to launch, for instance). So if you're looking for a good "get started with a Sunfish" book, this is it.The glossary alone is worth the book--it's an illustrated definition of terms with a humorous aside or two. Kent often points out where things can break.Example: "Bailer: The piece usually missing or broken in the cockpit of a used boat. Empties water from the cockpit while the boat is moving forward through the Venturi effect."Some comments about the complaints in other reviews. Some have pointed out that there are a few typos and grammatical errors. Yes, there are, get over yourselves, people! This is a self-published book by someone who's passionate about Sunfishes, not the niceties of grammar. The meaning is always clear, and Kent writes like an engineer: Tersely, using no more words than necessary. That just means the book is information-dense.Yes, there are lots and lots and LOTS of pictures. That's great! The pictures serve two main purposes: to illustrate what he's talking about (this is where a picture is worth a thousand words) and to set the overall emotional tone. After reading the book you will find yourself entertained, informed... and EXCITED about fixing your boat and taking it out on the water.THAT'S THE POINT! Kent's enthusiasm is palpable, and he passes along a LOT of wisdom in deceptively few (photo-filled) pages. If you're interested in, or have, a used (or new) Sunfish, consider this the "operator's manual". Don't be put off by the negative reviews of others. This book tells you what you need to know to enjoy your Sunfish for decades to come, and includes plenty of links to online resources so you can deepen your knowledge and skills. And no, I have no relationship to the author, never heard of him before buying the book. In case you're wondering :-).

Excellent Book for All Sunfish Enthusiasts
Mr. Lewis, who is certainly a local authority on the restoration of Sunfish, has put together a very nice compendium of the information he has gathered over the years in dealing with these boats. The book is well-formatted, with nice pictures illustrating the various steps of repairs or maintenance. Also, there is a nice section on the history of this classic boat as well as much other helpful, yet often overlooked, information about the Sunfish. A fine volume for any Sunfish owner or for anyone who is looking at getting into the delightful world of these little boats. The information on buying and selling is especially helpful. Recommended without reservation.

Good book
Easy read. Exactly what I expected.

Mostly photos!
The book has some useful information but is egregiously extended with much empty space on most pages. It’s a pamphlet trying to be a book. It’s better than nothing.

Pretty sure all the content is online - for free ...
Pretty sure all the content is online - for free - but it is convenient to have hardcopy readily available for reference. I probably wouldn't have purchased it if I could have browsed the book prior to buying.
