The delicate lines of this image are inspired by traditional media of pencil and pastel. This artwork's technique falls in the category of toned and monochrome prints. The processes are inspired by classic photographic techniques of chemical toning applied to black and white photographs, such as selenium, sepia, cyanotype, and platinum. A selection of two or more colors are mapped across the darks and lights of the image. The intensity is selectively adjusted in specific areas. I reduce the color in an image to draw the viewer through the shapes and lines of the composition. I choose monochromatic or muted tones when color would be a distraction from the composition and compel an emotional reaction.
