Works on dry, unbroken skin due to inflammation. Nice scent.
UPDATE: Justbought a jar for my neighbor's new pup with excema. This pup's coat look a lot healthier after 1 St application & lik my dog, loves the taste...no digestive problems if the lick or even eat it! Surprising how nice this "semi-hard butter like" oil is. I'm still evaluating after 2 weeks but seems my Aussie's foot & nail biting is much less. He has been on Apoquel (serious anti-inflammatory K9 only med) which works on the itch but not completely. After started scraping this butter on a tongue blade then my finger, I applied it inside in-between his paws/pads & inner thighs where he's had skin inflammation from a likely grass allergy. Since we used this coconut butter he's definitely not scratching as horribly as he did just a week before. It does seem to be this coconut butter that's helping. I've also used it on the OUTER EARS--not into the inner part of his outer ear....just around the ear flap. I'm using other Vet prescribed medicated ear wash & meds deep in his ears 1 time/week. This butter IS SAFE FOR DOGS TO INGEST. In fact, he love licking a bit from my finger. I'd suggest though, using a tongue blade to scrape off the coconut butter from the jar, THEN putting on clean fingers for application to various parts of body. My dog's got major allergies & I don't want to cross contaminate the jar contents between different body part applications. Besides his feet/pad ear flaps & inner thighs where the skins so inflamed, my vet said its okay to put it around his inflamed itchy anus--OF COURSE when I do this I take just the amount needed on a clean tongue blade then apply it. I never put my fingers into jar without washing my hands before each application site. Overall it does seem to relieve inflamed areas' that are terribly itching. It smells very nice with a hint of coconut. I may order a jar for myself as after I have it on my hands & fingers, they are smooth even waterproof! Good stuff.

Miracle Stuff
So I wanted to wait a little bit before giving my thoughts on this stuff. I wasn't sure what to think so I did rely heavily on outside reading and alongside some of the reviews here. And I LOOOOOOOVE this coconut oil! I thought to myself, if coconut oil is so healthy and helpful for humans, it's got to be great for pets too and sure enough it is! I have two dogs. One black and one white and the black one (shepherd mix) had a really bad dandruff problem. Anytime you'd pet her, it'd "snow". So I started massaging this into her skin/fur and within a couple days her dandruff was completely eradicated. My white one is a 4 month old GSD but she's all white. I know there could be multiple reasons for her tear stains and I've gotten some remover which slowly seems to help but I've started using the coconut oil in addition which has seemed to help speed up the removal of her tear stains. I also give them a teaspoon after they eat dinner and they look more forward to getting this "treat" than their actual dinner! I love the way the stuff smells and has made my dogs coats feel. It is kinda of oily on initial application but it's an oil so that's to be understood. The next day, their fur is soft and luxurious and super shiny. This company has a customer for life and I'll certainly be buying more.

Good product
This has helped my dachshund who has pretty bad dermatitis. When I adopted him from the humane society he had these issues so I bought this for him and it helps with his itching and makes his skin softer and not so dry and crusty feeling 😬 the only issue I’ve had with this product is the price of it, I could have just bought it from a grocery store for cheaper but I wanted something just for him and I can use mine for myself instead of sharing it with a dog, but you do get a good bit for the price and it will last awhile. So all in all I’m very happy with this purchase and would buy again for my pups

Very Impressed - My Dogs LOVE It
I have 2 mixed breed (rescued) dogs and I feed them high quality, limited ingredient, grain-free food along with salmon oil. One of my dogs (Colt) has always had dry, itchy skin and even with all I do to relieve his scratching, nothing completely resolved the dryness. I've read several articles on the benefits of coconut oil and figured I'd give it a try. I just finished my 1st jar last week and I am very impressed by the changes I've seen... Colt can finally relax and not be bothered with the irritation of scratching all the time. His fur looks healthier and has a nice shine to it; so does my other dog. Both of my dogs LOVE eating it off a spoon every evening and I rub it on Colt's body a couple times a week. It has been such a relief to see the changes in Colt in just the past month that he's been on it. The only downside for me is the price, but I'm willing to pay extra for the piece of mind in knowing I'm giving my dogs a high quality product. I've included a picture of Colt (Blue Heeler X) and a picture of both of my boys (Colt & Kilo) together holding paws.

Alpha pet zone coconut oil for dogs is my go-to anti fungal pet lotion.
A friend recommended coconut oil for dogs as a moisturizer for dried cracked paws. I read up on it, and it appears that coconut oil contains 3 different fatty acids (Caprylic Acid, Capric Acid, Lauric Acid) that have anti fungal and anti bacterial properties. Depending on the room temperature where you are, you might have to melt it a little in your hand before applying it all over dry, irritated or scratchy skin. We have been using it for about a week, and can already tell that our dog's paws are less dry. After applying it, he enjoys when we rub the remainder that's on our hands over his coat. Very soothing and highly hydrating. It also smells good, which is a bonus. I don't use a whole lot for each application; a little goes a long way. So I expect this jar will last us for several months. We will probably be repeat customer since our pets love it already and we can clearly see improvements.

Packaging needs to be better
Who packages these items? Oil melted and got on all the items in the box. Amazon needs to do better. Oil seemed fine, what little that was left in the jar.
