Better than others I've tried
Pros:1. The mechanism and two options for attaching to vents are superior to two other holders I've tried that also attach to vents. The attachment to the vents is more stable and is a simple mechanism to use, without forcing any.Pro/Con.1. The phone attaches to the holder via a magnet that is inserted between the phone and any phone protective case. In principle, this seems to work pretty well, although the thickness of one's protective case may impact on how tightly the phone sticks to the holder. I have had mine about a week now and, out of a week of driving, the phone has fallen off the holder about once a day. I'm still experimenting with exactly where I position the phone on the holder, but an occasional bump or rapid acceleration may dislodge the phone. The protective case I use for my Google pixel XL2 is a fabric type look. It is possible that this is thicker than some cases and may be the source of the problem. The holder comes with two magnet options, one rectangular and one circular. So far I have only tried the rectangular magnet, since it has a larger surface area than the circular one. In principle, I like this overall design and implementation, but, if my phone continues to fall as frequently as it has so far, I may have to find other options.08/20/18 update. The circular metal piece has an adhesive backing. Since inserting the rectangular metal piece between the phone and protective case was not permitting a strong enough magnetic effect to avoid my phone from occasionally falling off the holder, I put the circular metal mount on the back of my protective case. However, with my fabric protective case, the adhesive bond was not strong enough. Every time I would remove the phone from the holder, the circular metal piece would stay attached to the magnet rather than the case. Although it is an aesthetically unappealing solution, I then used a Gorilla Glue to more strongly attach the circular metal piece to the back of the protective case. This worked. And I can now happily say that the phone seems to strongly attach to the holder!!!!

Handy item to have. Works well.
It does what it says. The magnet is strong. I'm able to keep my phone case on. I'm using the rectangular magnet. It's easy to put on the vent.A little tip, place it on the top vent plate, right above the metal piece on the vent. If you tighten the wheel all the way, it will come off the vent when you take the phone off. If you don't tighten the wheel at all, it will also come off of the vent. Tighten the wheel all the way, then loosen it just a little .. and that will solve the problem. Also, since the magnet is so strong, you have to take your phone off a certain way ... Or it will come off the vent, still attached to the phone. I have to lift my phone in a slight upward position to the right. Once you find out what works for, remember to take your phone off that way and you shouldn't have a problem. I actually don't mind that it comes off sometimes because it didn't happen when I'm driving and I've seen pictures of the damage that the dash mounts cause. I've read about another magnetic mounts that they mounts starts to lose its magnetism. My solution is to put the round magnetic circle on the mount, and continue to use the rectangular magnet on between my one and my case. If the works, when the 3M tape on the magnetic circle looses it's grip, I'll buy a replacement set. If the idea doesn't work, I don't mind buying another Geko Grip. The price is reasonable. It passed my driving test. I drove down some pretty bumpy roads and my phone did not budge. Overall, I am please with my purchase.

Worked great at first
Worked great at first. Now after lots of use the magnet is not as strong. My wives phone starts sliding down when driving so she stopped using it. I liked the idea but just not there yet. Will stick with clamp style.

BEST car mount for smartphones!
This is my second GekoGrip. I originally got the one that mounts on the dash, but I found that my phone was burning up from the sun shining on it all the time and constantly being plugged in. So I got this one to mount on the AC vent so the air could cool the phone down and it'd stay out of the sun.The first week or two the mount would fly off the vent whenever I made a sharp turn, but after a while I managed to wedge it into the vent and it stays put now. It's nice to have the phone plugged in and charging for literally hours at a time (I'm an Uber and Lyft driver) and keep it cool, too.

Not as strong as I was hoping it would be ...
Not as strong as I was hoping it would be. I have a case on my phone so it is heavier. Phone falls off at every bump in the road

GOOD...but...
Excellent product...but...could be a little more magnetic! Purchased a few others that are far more magnetic! If u could fix that issue it would be a 5 star product!!!

So far so good
So far so good. Strong magnet. Can withstand driving on rough roads and doesn't fall off. Grips air vent well. Very sleek looking when on its own in your car. The metal plate was placed between a leather iPhone case and the phone, creating a slightly raised area you can feel on the case. (I have an iPhone 7 plus) Otherwise quite happy. Also, you'll have to turn your vent off when using this device during winter or else your phone will get quite warm. Ok for me I can point other vents towards me. Hope this helps.

Great product anyway
It works as I expected. It could have the plates a little smaller and the price a little lower. Great product anyway.
