Wonderful
This is perfect for my two-person household. It does all the toaster oven things without trying to replace my big oven. What's fun is that it has two very useful buttons: snowflake, which tells the device that you are cooking something frozen, and which the device will take into account, and "A Bit More," which is fantastic. You can add a little time onto whatever you're cooking without having to reprogram it, and this morning I dialed up "reheat" and, instead of "start," pushed "A Bit More." It started heating up to temp without doing the whole preheat thing, which involves all heating elements on full. I had brought home breakfast from a restaurant and set it on the baking tray and put it in the oven while I made coffee and cleaned up, and it was nicely heated when we sat down to eat. I had some pancakes that I wanted to keep warm until we finished everything else, and I put them on a plate, loaded in some butter, covered the whole thing with aluminum foil, and put the plate in the oven on "bake" set at 120 degrees and 30 minutes after the first batch of food came out. The oven was already warm so preheating wasn't necessary. I took it out at about 25 minutes, and it was perfect - the pancakes were still hot, but the plate wasn't too hot to hold. Yesterday I put a frozen bagel in it on the bagel setting with the snowflake button pushed, and it came out hot and crusty on the outside and tender and chewy in the middle. I did split the bagel before I froze it - not sure it would have heated as well if it hadn't been cut. It's nicely small, but will be big enough for my needs. I put a baking rack on top of it and a cutting board on top of that, and the air gap allows me to stack my toaster oven trays and my oven mitts on top. The cutting board is 10 x 14 and is a nice fit.I love using this and highly recommend it.UPDATE: I got a silicone trivet from Joseph Joseph and replaced the baking rack with that. Much more secure because the silicone keeps it from slipping. Also have now tried all the cycles, and have made cookies for the first time in years without burning the bottoms. My favorite is the frozen Shepherd's Pie from Aldi, from solidly frozen to done, perfect, in the paper pan it came in, without heating up the big oven or the house.

Love it so far
I have had this for only a short time but my old Cuisinart was dreadful. Have used it for toasting bread and cinnamon raisin rolls and it did well. I have also cooked a frozen quiche and heated appetizers in it. After having a toaster oven that was performing so poorly, I will have to get used to one that performs well. I love the timer and the very fast pre-heating. It appears to be well made with quality materials. I do wish it came with a broiler rack, but the pan it comes with is a sturdy enameled piece. I have a very small kitchen and this is perfectly sized, yet will allow me to cook what I need. It appears to be worth the price.** updateStill loving this toaster oven. Here is my take on a few things:Several of the older reviews mention that the bell/buzzer was too loud or somehow a disturbance. Perhaps Breville changed this feature because it sounds no different to me than any number of things that ding or buzz in my kitchen. The materials seem to be sturdy and high quality. Not sure why some have thought them cheap.A clock? If you have no clock on your microwave or regular oven, it might be useful, but not an issue for most.Markings for rack level on the inside rather than just the door? There are only 3 possible rack placements. Within a few uses, I was able to remember which level was toast, bake or broil.Too big??? That's mystifying. If does hold 4 slices of bread, 6 cup muffin tin etc. Would there be a market for something even smaller?Too hot? It's all sturdy metal. Metal conducts heat. If you have it set to 400 degrees it will indeed be hot. You can use the top surface as a plate warmer, but, as with any toaster oven or portable cooking appliance, you need to be careful about touching things to the exterior when it's in use. Use common sense. This really is both a great toaster and great mini oven, not something I have found with any other toaster oven I've owned. Worth the price!

Excellent customer service. Nice oven
The oven is a nice size and intuitive to use. Unfortunately the first oneās digital functions did not function correctly and heating element did not respond correctly.I called Breville customer service and was impressed. The representative was able to set up a kind of zoom so he could see exactly what the oven was doing. He concluded it should be replaced, sent me instructions to UPS it back.My intent was to replace my toaster which died. I decided to upgrade to a toaster oven. I really like the oven but agree with other reviewers of many brands that toasting bread is not the strong suit of these ovens. For many of us there will be a learning curve. I suggest searching for āhow to toast bread in toaster ovensā. Surprisingly, what works for me is toasting on the broil function, flipping halfway through. You need to watch it. This gives medium darkness and not an over dried toast with very hard crust. I am toasting sourdough bread.
