The Broken Token Box Organizer for Cities of Splendor

Good way to compact the various parts; some things to watch for.
It's a great way to store everything in one box if you have the base game and the expansion. It appears you can even store some of the promo noble tokens beyond the base game, especially if you are like me and don't use gen upgrades and rely on the chips of the base game. I just chose not to install the dividers into the upgrade tray (photo, as I didn't but upgraded gems ) and so it's one large open tray where extra bits can be stored if I run out of space in the nobles box. You can seen the extra space in that compartment in the photo if the filled box- there I've put all the nobles and 1 promo noble leaving room for more. Not there the added space in the upgrades tray that is empty. The cities tray (not visible) appears to have enough room for one more card (i.e. The add on card)In putting it together take care; there are a few places where you can glue the wrong end in the wrong spot on a tray, specifically the trading post tray where one of the short ends has a finger cutout and must be installed on the end that the long sides extend past (photo). A design change in the laser cutting could ensure there is only one way to install the parts of this tray. The other possible gotcha is some wood surfaces can be rough. My concern was this rough surface would wear the cardboard and paper surfaces and edges of the tiles over the years. So I had to go over the wood with some 220 grit sandpaper on the inside faces of the trays and slots the tiles and cards would be stored in.The chip trays are too large for the number of chips. There are wooden disks to fill some of the space in the 5 gen types but oddly enough the gold chips which have less in the set and thus even more extra space to rattle around in, get no filler discs.

Beautiful and functional, but do not try to assemble without tools
This product arrives in a set of wooden sheets that have the pieces cut out, but still attached by a sliver to their containing sheet. Getting the pieces out is straightforward, although one or two were slightly damaged during removal. These things are made to fit VERY tightly, so much so that I think most joints would hold just fine without glue.My only real complaint is that many pieces did not go together easily - there was just not enough wiggle room for the tabs to go into their respective slots with normal pressure. I tried sanding both the tabs and the slots, as suggested by the instructions. That worked but was extremely time consuming. For most pieces, I used a rubber mallet and a piece of scrap wood to hammer the pieces together - this was much faster than the sanding method, and I was surprised that none of the pieces broke during the hammering - maybe this material is stronger than it looks! In a few cases I used a clamps to push some of the pieces together - it doesn't take much pressure at all so go easy to avoid breaking anything.Altogether, assembly took me about two hours and would have been more fun if it hadn't been 3am on Christmas Eve.Overall, the product is as-advertised, looks and works great, and is well worth the purchase price. My recommendation is to have 220 grit sandpaper, a rubber mallet, a small piece of scrap wood, wood glue, and a clamp or two on hand during assembly.

Great find for "Splendor" storage!
This is a great find for storing your "Splendor" game and expansion pieces! Instructions are very clear on putting each section together. Each section fits very snug no need for glue but your may need a small hammer to click each piece together. Just be careful when first taking each piece from the boards that you use a utility knife to finish the cut. Because it is still attached on both sides of the each piece by a tiny bit of the wood it will splinter your piece if not cut all the way through. After everything is put together it fits perfectly in the "Splendor" box!! I wish they had these for all the games I own!!

Put everything Splendor in one box!
This is another great addition from The Broken Token. No more carting around two boxes for Splendor and Cities; now everything has it's own home neatly in one box.The card slots, though not adjustable, neatly hold all cards, sleeved or unsleeved. All of the containers sit neatly together without sliding around, and are modular enough to allow you to quickly set up a new game based on the components that you need. For me, the plastic First Player Marker was a little fragile, but I would not use it anyway. This isn't enough for me to drop any stars, because I bought the set for the organizer, not for the nice-to-have marker.

More than enough room for everything but a playmat.
All of my Broken Token expansions save time setting up games, and this one is no exception. Since the Cities expansion is modular, this insert makes it easy to grab only the bits that I wish to use. It accommodates sleeved cards, and fits everything inside the box for the base game, which saves space on my shelf. The wood product is durable, attractive, and designed for a snug fit at each joint. A recommended indulgence if you play Splendor with Cities.
