Plug-in mini steamer
I've only used it once, but it worked well. The water was heated very quickly, and it's light and easy to use. I do think I will purchase one that is not a "portable/travel" model due to the fact that since there is no stop/start button like on an iron, if you don't use it very soon after it's ready the tiny reservoir is emptied very quickly...and you have to wait at least five minutes for it to cool enough to refill. Also, I guess they're labeling it 'portable' because it's little, and not because it's cordless or battery operated, so if you're purchasing this item for travel consider voltage and hot-item packing requirements. Lastly, since again I've only used it the one time with tap water, I'm hoping it doesn't eventually have problems because a few pages into the manual it specifically states to use distilled water on the trouble shooting page. This info is not listed on the initial directions page, and I always thought a certain amount of salt was necessary for steam. So there ya go.

Well-suited for smaller jobs
The 6 oz. reservoir seems standard for small steamers but it provides only about four minutesโ worth of steam. That's probably enough for a shirt, but nowhere close to what would be necessary for curtains. For that, according to the instructions, one would also have to wait five minutes for the steamer to cool down before adding more water between fills. Also, the steam seems effective only in the middle of the spray; the edges don't really seem to get a good amount of hot steam. Doing curtains looks like itโd be a very time-consuming job. An upright steamer, with a large capacity water reservoir, would be a better choice for medium to large jobs.

This should be in any college checklist!
I'm a college student so I love that the SteamGenie is compact and easy to use. It takes about 2 minutes to hear up then I mainly use it on wrinkled clothes that I'm about to throw on or clothes that need lint removed. (I didn't even know it came with a lint remover attachment so that was a great surprise). I kind of wish it could hold more water so I could do more at once but overall it's great for a quick wrinkle (or lint) solution.

- fits like it has been put over new foam rubber
Believe it or not, I used this for installing seat upholstery in my 04 Ram truck. The replacement cover for the driver's seat bottom fit too loosely when I first put it on. Searched a bit on You Tube and found out about steaming the underlying foam rubber. Doing so swells the dried, shrunken original foam rubber. Then you put the seat cover on and - Voila! - fits like it has been put over new foam rubber. The SteamGenie worked as it should in every respect, and the size/weight was perfect. Glad I bought it. Maybe my wife or I will actually used on garments some day, too.

Big steamer in a small container with a small price
I hate ironing and I having limited space so I wanted a steamer that could easily be stored away. The trick was finding a portable steamer that could actually do the job of a full size steamer. Well, don't let the little size of the portable SteamGenie fool you...it's the real deal. I have used it on clothes, new curtains that I've hung that still had creases and even my new shower curtain that has creases. It heats up fast, produces a lot of steam, easy to move around and easy to store. So if you' re thinking about getting one the answer is yes, yes and yes. Get one- you won't regret this little guy!

Works Great
I ordered this steamer to use on my daughter's delicate matte satin baptism dress, that arrived folded up in a mailing package. The label clearly said Do Not Iron, and I was afraid the cleaners would damage it. I used distilled water, and this little steamer worked wonderfully. I also used it to steam the wrinkles out of my son's oxford cloth button-down shirt. I hate ironing, because I end up ironing more wrinkles into the garment than there were before I began. With my daughter's dresses and her other fancy items, I see myself using this over and over.

I like the steamer because the price and it's work good
I like the steamer because the price and it's work good, but I have two issues with this steamer. First is the way to add water. you will add water by two steps and that is what I don't like this way. Second is the brush that comes with the steamer, in the first use, it comes out of his place as you see in the pictures.

OK steamer for a portable.
It does an OK job for a portable steamer, however, if it is not held perfectly upright, the thing pukes water all over your clothes. My wife used it on her sun dress she wore to work and it had a big water streak down the front of it after using it. Luckily for her, it was light material and dried quickly.
