Backyard Safari Company Grow Gardens, Salsa

I bought this for my 10 year old daughter. We are playing around with seed starters as a quarantine hobby. I have purchased a few different ones and this one stands out. I was shocked to see it was MADE IN THE USA. Also, I love the packaging. NO PLASTIC!! The egg carton acts as a planter and is compostable. You can cut up the individual sections and transplant right to pot or garden. The wrapper, seed packets, instructions, recipes, pencil and plant markers are ALL compostable/recyclable. Yay. The only plastic holds the soil pellets. Company could improve a bit and wrap these in the paper envelopes. I love the recipe booklets that come with the kit. Wish us luck, hopefully we can get the seedlings to grow and have fun on the journey. Oh, I also plan to purchase more for teacher gifts, these are fun.

I bought this package to start teaching my 2 year old about gardening and plants. He has had a lot of fun planting the seeds and watering his tiny plants every day. They are doing well 2 months into their growth (we live in hot, desert climate), but no flowers yet. I am not hopeful for much more growth though as I planted them in August and it is now October and getting cold. I will add more photos if plants continue to do well (maybe I'll bring them indoors). Would definitely purchase again (but plant in the spring!).

While I liked the idea of this item as a gift for a grandchild who is interested in gardening and nuts about salsa, it certainly does not appear to be of quality commensurate with the cost. Plus it arrived smashed and broken on both ends ....so I now have a gift that cost almost $20 that looks like crap (and my kids have never been allowed to use that word. I’m very disappointed....(AND embarrassed because I had one sent to another out-of-state grandchild. I hope this review keeps others from being disappointed.)

I really like the idea of this but there needs to be a sturdier way to grow the plants at first. The egg carton gets moldy and starts falling apart before the plants even start growing.

I bought this for my sister who gardens for Mother's Day and being on lockdown in NYS during COVID, this is perfect. Super cute packaging, she will love it.

Bought as a gift for my grandma. She likes to paint and I figured lots of colorful flowers would be a good thing to paint. She loves it. They have all sprouted and been successfully transferred outside at this point. She's thrilled.

Super cute packaging and easy for young kids to use. The quality of the seeds is questionable. We had jalepeno and cayenne sprout only and they aren’t doing too well.

This picture was taken less than 48 hours after planting. I was afraid my little one wouldn’t see her plants grow after a failing school project. Thank you, I will buy more set great quality soil and seeds!
