BE WARNED - Online description claims 100% cotton construction. Once received, label clearly states only 55% cotton. Upon unpacking, discovered two separate sewn seams coming undone. Metal vent grommet crushed on inside backing ring. Rothco does not permit returns via Amazon. Requires contacting Rothco directly via website or telephone. However, website security certificates are expired and your browser may not allow you to visit the website. Two separate emails to customer service email address unanswered after four days. Telephone is answered by VM. On the whole very disappointing experience both in terms of product and company.

Not much to say really, besides it's a great boonie hat for the price. I ordered a size 7 1/2, should have gone 1 size smaller, but it still fits well. My only gripe is how tight this thing was rolled up, which created creases that I'm still trying to get out (you can see in my review pic). Other than that, it's great!

I bought this hat to finish my tiger stalking outfit. I have to admit, I’ve only have about a 20% success rate. It does make it a little easier to sneak up on them. However, they ultimately smell me right around the time I hop the fence at the zoo. I’ll update this review if my odds increase.

depending on what your looking for this is a good hat.if your looking for a boonie hat strictly to beat the heat this isnt the best for that as it doesnt breathe as well due to the poly cotton blend.also there is no map pocket which leaves a single layer protecting the top of your head from the sun.if your looking for a boonie to deal with rain its surprisingly good at repelling water for short periods and even long periods when soaked still holds up great and doesnt droop(water proof boonies are too hot).i got the 7 3/4 and was a little loose at first but shrunk naturally ( never dried or washed mine,followed the tag ) one thing i noticed and most people wont care is there is a yellow tint to the color and it keeps it from matching real ucp ACUs and gear. for comparison one pic has the rothco on the left and the tru spec on the right

I love the original boonie hat for everyday casual wear a nd for being in the sticks in any weather, but I wear a size 8 hat, so there was always some discomfort/loss of circulation in trying to squeeze into a 7 3/4 - the largest I have ever found in the original article. I have looked at commercial interpretations for years, but they were all unsatisfying for one reason or another - mainly panels of mesh that made them useless for rain. I thought I had found an acceptable one in my size from a company that sells me a shocking percentage of my wardrobe, but when it arrived, I saw that the upper part of the crown was solidly attached in only four places, with the rest being a supposedly stealth vent to the mesh underneath. It may meet many people's needs, but seeing it on my head and mentally comparing it to the original, well, UNSAT. So, I returned to Amazon, where I had searched for years, and just happened upon the fact that Rothco, a maker of MIL-SPECish and other gear that I trust, made the Holy Grail of hats IN MY SIZE!To Rothco: Surely this is new and I haven't been missing it for 3 decades, right? At any rate, BZ!

I wanted a Boonie hat similar to the one I wore in the Army, but in Olive Drab instead of Desert Tan. This hat was just what I had in mind. It's pretty authentic in look and feel, and fits as expected. I just went ahead and ordered the size I wore in the military and it fit just fine. The drawstring seems a little shorter, but I can't remember how long the U.S. issued ones were. Either way, the draw string is long enough to fit anyone's head, I'm sure. The only other difference that I can tell, is that this has the loops, as pictured. The one I was issued did not have loops, but that didn't matter to me in the slightest when I decided to make the purchase. I've had this hat now for about 3 years, and put it through a lot since then, including plenty of hiking, camping and 2 years worth of landscaping...so namely, lots of exposure to sweat and the elements, and tons of washings. The hat has held up great and is still in good shape. One note about maintenance: I always hang dry the hat rather than drying it, because that's just what I did in the military and it works just fine for me.

Had this about a week. Washed today, didn’t dry. Didn’t seem to shrink much if at all. Not sure why everyone is complaining about size, I wear a tight 6 7/8 fitted ball cap. This is a 7, seems about right. No elastic, more a cowboy style where the inside circumference has to be accurate because there’s no elasticity to shrink to you’re head. It’s a shallow style hat, not one a tall cap. Pulled down tight, sits just above eyebrows. Seems to be sumwhat water repelant but not proof. Brim is only couple of inches so it’s not designed to be a sun hat. But does block some sun and doesn’t block you’re peripheral which is good for me, I’m a delivery driver. As long as it lasts a yr or so I’d buy again. If you want high quality and authenticity and made in USA, than keep shopping and take take out a 2nd mortgage on your house. This is a cheap hat that’s made cheaply & does the job. 4 stars because it wasn’t free. Lol

I bought it to make a TikTok as captain price and got 19.7k likes and then fell in love with it. It’s a good fit and very comfortable. The waterproofing is a big plus. Great protection from the sun while I hike and hunt.The only complaint I have about it is that the straps that hang from it aren’t aligned with the drainage holes which gives it the appearance of poor craftsmanship. Materials are good but their quality control needs some work, as it’s hard to justify such a mistake on a product like this. I take away 1 Star for that.

Excellent material and the holes are covered with a mesh. Really thrilled with this great boonie.

I ordered a size up to ensure it would not be small on my head, and to my surprise, it fits very comfortably. The mechanism that tightens the hat (on the chin strap) works, but could have been slightly improved.
