"Kakishibu (Persimmon) Dyed" is the fermented juice of unripe astringent persimmons. Its brown colour comes from its tannin molecules. Apart from its beautiful colour,Kakishibu gives fabric a particular luster and texture. It also protects fabric from humidity and mold. "Tenugui" are a type of traditional Japanese towel. Since tenugui have a smooth texture that is unlike typical Western terrycloth towels, they can be used in various ways other than just drying hands or bodies. Use instead of a towel or handkerchief or to wrap plastic bottles or wrap gifts, or Wear around the head instead of a bandanna or headband, or Wear around the neck instead of a scarf, or instead of a place mat. Other than the uses above, tenugui can be used in many more ways, including being used as masks or as strainers. Find your own unique way of using tenugui! The edges are unfinished and will tend to unravel for about 3-5mm. Don't pull loose threads (use scissors to cut them if they are a nuisance).
