On-Stage MS7701B Euro Boom Mic Stand (For Vocal and Instrument Microphones

Own 2 of these stands. To date, I have used this product for 3 band practices and 3 performances at various locations. Is holding up very well so far to all the transportation. History- I am in charge of making all "tech/equipment" purchases for our new church. We already had some regular stands and needed some boom stands to allow the guitarist and bassist to sing into the mics. Besides a quality product, I believe it's ultimately up to you to care for your product to make sure it doesn't malfunction early. Pros- Base is solid, has not tipped over yet. No sliding or bending on any joints or parts, very sturdy. Great paint finish. I removed the "On Stage" sticker label to make the stage look more professional with no ads for anything (other than the brand labels on the amps and instruments. Sticker came of mostly clean. If you do this, make sure you remove at a steep angle and apply even pressure throughout the process. Cons- Product page does not mention whether it comes with a microphone clip or not. Not a problem for people who are replacing equipment but if this is your first or a new addition stand, it will inconvenience you to find the product arrived at your house with no mic clip (buy a mic clip simultaneously with this purchase. Currently a no frills standard "mic clip" runs you more or less $4 on Amazon.) Note- I have also lately used these stands to hold lights up so I can have good lighting while I work on my hobby-type projects.

Ok, so if you're a gigging musician or a studio engineer, you know that one of the most frustrating things in the world is the fact that no one seems to be able to make a halfway decent mic stand for under 100 dollars. It just doesn't happen. Unless you're willing to spring for one of those awesome, heavy Atlas stands, this On-Stage stand is the best you're going to get. So I gave it five stars not because it's a freakishly good stand, but just because, with care, it tends to fall apart less quickly than other stands I've used. As with all stands, you have to handle with care. I know you have visions of yourself "Dude Looks like a Lady"-ing around an arena stage waving this thing above your head, but just... don't. The locking components are, for the most part, plastic, and while it is solid enough to hold a condenser mic and shockmount, you will want to make sure you are firmly securing the stand with sandbags in the studio for any overhead applications. On stage, these work fine as long as you are intentional with the setup and teardown- if you've ever met almost anyone who does this for a living at a club or dive bar, I'd suggest personally taking charge and caring for your gear yourself. Someday alien archeologists will find, buried beneath the rubble of O'Jaegger's Pub and Music Hallway a graveyard of broken microphone stands and think to themselves "by (insert alien deity) these human 'sound men' were a barbaric race!" If you take care of this decent stand carefully, it may avoid being among the interred.

I tried an inexpensive scissor stand that mounted to my desk. The angles of my setup and the desk construction just didn't allow the flexibility or isolation of the microphone I was looking for. I'm a fairly fast typist and no matter what I tried I couldn't isolate the vibration from the microphone attached to the desk surface. I returned that item and ordered this based on a recommendation from a YouTube video. I couldn't be more pleased with the construction and quality of the product. I was only $9 more than the inexpensive scissor / desk mount stand and it's about $70 less than the Blue Yeti Compass which is also desk mounted. I was honestly surprised at the quality in relation to the price. VERY HAPPY with this so far. It also includes a couple of clips for cord management which is becoming a new hobby as I work from home and expand my home office video and audio capabilities.

Excellent product. I got it for free as a part of a package deal with a microphone but would gladly pay for the asking price. The look and feel is excellent and versatile as the instrument mike stand, stage stand, or with a little of fiddling could be used for podcasting to have an inobtrusive mike. For those keen on modding, it could be easilly repurposed as a stand for the photo light, or even a home LED light.

Got this to have a boom mic arrangement, using my Rode Videomic Pro. It's lightweight, fairly well built, and works well for the purpose, without tipping, and handles the weight of the mic well.
