Avoid this seller
This is my first magnifier. If you are an artist or simply love to create detailed works, you might consider buying one.But I suggest do not buy this. The product is made quite cheaply. The glasses are falling off the frame. And this product is not returnable. My unit came with dirty lenses and scratched screws. It's either fake or the seller is selling refurbished models

Amazon shipped inferior produce in the manufacturer's original box. Not the manufacturer's fault.
I ordered the OptiVisor DA-3 (NOT the OptiVisor AL). The Amazon product description states the lenses are made of ophthalmic quality GLASS. It also states the box contains the OptiVISOR, a fitted, plastic carrying case and an instruction manual. The product arrived in an unsealed manufacturer's box labeled OptiVisor Optical GLASS Binocular Magnifier DA 3. Inside were a visor with PLASTIC lenses in an open, flimsy clear plastic wrapper and an Owner's Manual. No GLASS lenses. No carrying case. If I wanted cheap plastic lenses I would have ordered a less expensive product.Amazon sold an inferior product in a more expensive product's box, missing some of the items. Amazon gave me a refund. But how do I get the product I want?

Not the usual Donegan quality . I was shocked. TWICE ! Finally satisfied with newest replacement.
I have several of the Donegan OptiVISOR’s in various magnifications so I know what to expect in regards to quality. I never had a problem, until now. I bought the DA-7 magnification for very close-up work and when it arrived I was shocked to find the glass lenses literally falling out of the plastic frame. So, no problem, I’ll simply snap the lenses into place and write this off as a poor assembly job by the manufacturer. After numerous attempts to get the lenses to snap into place I gave up as I was afraid of breaking the plastic frame. It appears the glass lenses are just not contoured properly and I presume the factory assembler reached the same conclusion. As is my usual approach, I first tried to contact the manufacturer via their customer service e-mail. I try to do this before writing a product review whenever possible. I got no response so here is my review. I will now take this through the very good Amazon product return/exchange channels. I had hoped to avoid that and simply get a new lens assembly from the manufacturer. Now they’ll have to replace the whole visor. I do prefer the glass lenses compared to the molded optical plastic. They are more scratch resistant IMO.UPDATE: Okay, Amazon shipped another right away before the first one was returned. I couldn't believe my eyes. The replacement has lenses that also are not positioned well. This can't be right! How can a product with uneven lens positioning be appropriate for precision binocular vision? If I'm wrong I wish the Donegan folks would educate me but they don't respond.UPDATE: After writing a letter to the Donegan president I did finally get a response. They shipped me a new lens plate and asked that I return the questionable one, which I did. The newest plate is much better with the two glass lenses aligned well. So, I’m improving my review to 4 stars because I believe the quality of Donegan products is usually good.

Super light awesome optics
I'm sorry that I wasted my money on cheaper optics. I would have been money ahead if I'd just bought this first! These are so light and so perfect. I use them for silversmithing and jewelry making. These are the best. Very comfortable. I hardly know their on. Plus you can wear your prescription glasses with them.

Quality at an affordable price
I purchased the Donegan OptiVisor after researching several different brands and styles of headband magnifier to help me better see small parts when I make custom jewelry. I need to be sure that all the pieces fit snugly, joints are even, and any scratches or sharp ends on wire and findings are eliminated. The GLASS lens sold me on this particular one over the others I looked at. From other reviewer's comments of all the brands I researched, I gathered that the optical quality for the glass lens was superior to the more common, plastic lens which often was or became blurry or distorted and could not be worn for extended periods without developing a headache or eye-distress.I was also concerned about lens scratches, etc. I believe I made the correct choice. The headband is infinitely adjustable and lined in the forehead area with a soft headpiece which makes it very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The visor has knobs on each side allowing me to adjust tension for the task at hand. After the initial period of getting used to wearing the headband and adjusting my working distances, I have worn this magnifier for hours without getting a headache or developing eye-distress! The OptiVisor also fits comfortably with my prescription glasses on.I also like the fact that the lens can be changed out for another magnification or replaced should it become damaged, without having to replace the entire headband. Although made entirely from plastic (except for the lens) the Donegan OptiVisor quality is excellent, and given some care in use and storage, should last for several years. I do not regret purchasing this product -- and after shopping around, Amazon was the least expensive online store I found.-DON-
