A must for outdoor working!!!
As a valet at a cancer center, I need to be curbside in direct sunlight by my podium all afternoon, with occasional breaks for extreme heat/cold episodes. A patient recommended one of these to me, asking the question "do you want to risk getting skin cancer working at a cancer center?" (Obviously I don't.) I ordered this on a Wedsnesday, had it Friday morning in time for my next shift, & now I can't live without it! I must have had 20-30 patients & staff ask me about it (possibly because of its distinctive metallic silver material) & I'm sure I've sold a bunch of them for Amazon. It is STUNNINGLY obvious that the temperature beneath it is 15 degrees cooler than the ambient temp., it's a 55 spf sunblock equivalent, it blocks nearly all UV light, & it's produced using recycled plastic bottles! Stepping under it is like stepping indoors - it's that effective! Between my Yeti cooler, neck air conditioner, cold water spray bottle & this AMAZING very well-made umbrella, the occasional New Jersey 100°+ summer heatwaves have been much more bearable. It doesn't hurt to know that Amazon sells this exact model for $35.00 LESS than UV Blocker sells it for on their website - a great deal for someone like me on a fixed income. My advice - DO NOT HESITATE TO GET ONE FOR YOURSELVES!!!

It Works!!!
This umbrella is a game-changer for blocking out UV rays! My son plays baseball in Texas, and it’s absolutely essential during the scorching summer months. It feels noticeably cooler under this umbrella compared to a regular one—I never leave home without it. It’s generously sized like a golf umbrella, easily fitting two adults underneath. It’s sturdy, wind-resistant, and comes with a convenient cover that slips on easily for storage and transport. Perfect for staying shaded and comfortable at outdoor events!

Excellent Sun Umbrella (+an update)
I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend so much for an umbrella. It’s pricey! However I needed good sun protection and gave this a try. Worth it! It really does help in reducing the rays and does keep me cooler. So far anyway-hasn’t been tested yet in the mid summer triple digits. I wish the inside was black instead of the navy blue. I feel that black would be easier on the eyes by further reducing light or glare. The silver outer fabric is fine so far too. Some reviewers mentioned it rubbing off. Not on mine and I handle it all the time. One important mention—the handle is amazingly grippy. Think golf club or tennis racket or even bike grips. Same idea. NOT the cheap plastic on other comparable golf umbrellas. Spines are sturdy and strong and have held up in wind easily. Love that it came with a good cover but it doesn’t have a shoulder strap (bummer!). I fully recommend this umbrella for sun protection. Worth the money. Update: Well, summer finally came into the triple digits. It’s been about 110 and that’s just the start. Using this umbrella still works not only blocking the sun but it does actually make the heat more tolerable. Feels cooler and helps harness the cooler air inside but has a vent so there is air flow to cool me off. I don’t know how it works, but it does! I still recommend this umbrella despite the cost. Still wishing it came with a strap on the sleeve.

The umbrella helped me stay cool and out of the incredibly intense midday summer Arizona sun!
I used this large 68" umbrella in the Arizona / Utah desert to keep the sun off me even though the temperatures were above 43'(C) / 110'(F). My friends who were also hiking with me did NOT have access to an umbrella but were covered up with various UV covering up garments (hoodies, long sleeve fishing shirts, etc.). They were miserable and needing to stop every 15-20m beneath what shade they could find beneath the few juniper trees they could find. Wind gusts between 3-10mph made keeping the umbrella properly pointed a little difficult some times, but, manageable ... albeit actively. Still better than not having it though. The wind actually blew the umbrella out 4-5 times and the umbrella had NO problem correcting itself back to its original form and 100% operational. It was like nothing happened; a buddy thought that was the end of the umbrella when it happened the first time. But like I said, I righted the configuration and it continued operating. This occurred 4-5 times; each time going back to its original correct position without any failure of components. This is a good quality umbrella. Definitely recommended.

Fabulous
I bought this umbrella for my son’s numerous baseball games this summer in the GA/FLA heat. Glad I saw another baseball mom review! This umbrella is awesome!!! Blocks the sun and keeps you cooler. At one game, a heavy downpour came and it is a large sturdy umbrella- it worked great! Like some stated it is a bit heavy - but that’s ok with me bc it’s so sturdy. I haven’t had it in wind so can’t comment on that. Highly recommend getting this to shield from the sun. Who wants skin cancer ? Get the best Jerry. The best.

Effectively keeps the sun off my old bald head, face, ears, and neck while I walk.
Nice product. Works well - I don't have to slap on sunscreen if I'm using it. I've been careful in the sun ever since surgical removal of melanoma (and several melanoma-infused lymph nodes) 12 years ago. I use this in conjunction with breathable UPF 50+ clothes, hat, face/neck covering, and gloves. And sunglasses. I'm probably filtering out 99% of all direct and reflected UV rays while equipped this way. I'm okay with being pale. I just supplement with oral vitamin D capsules. I walk 12 to 20 miles daily, so I'm out in the sun several times a day for hours... and need the protection. Happily, the UV-Blocker umbrella I received does not sport a large logo (as depicted in the product photo). There's a large UV-Blocker logo on the umbrella's soft carry case (which has its own nice shoulder-carry strap), but that doesn't bother me. The umbrella itself only has one small logo that's been placed on one of its two small closure straps. I use this regular length umbrella when hiking near home (easy to use, open, and close), and carry a smaller collapsable compact sun umbrella while traveling. On stormy, rainy, gusty days, I use a regular black heavy-duty umbrella (not sun-specific)... one that won't flip inside out. Regular black tightly-woven rain umbrellas only afford 90% UV radiation blockage... but I've never had a heavy-duty rain-specific umbrella flip inside out during a raging storm. On days with raging wind I forego an umbrella and simply wear rain gear. Why risk damaging a sun-specific umbrella on stormy days? Because their UV-blocking fabric is treated and heavier, sun-specific umbrellas aren't heavy-duty constructed - so that they'll be light enough to carry around all day on sunny days. Dunno if the UV-Blocker umbrella actually would flip inside out and break, but I've read in the comment section that that's happened before, so I only use mine on sunny calm days. Don't want to risk damaging it since it does a great job blocking UV rays. I dislike wearing sunscreen lotion. I bought the J handle type so it'd be easy to control and easy to adjust handholds. Bought this fairly small size, because certain park trails I hike on are fairly narrow, and I don't want to be crowding anyone passing from the opposite direction. This size works well. Large enough to effectively keep the sun's rays off, and small enough not to be intrusive to other hikers. Some have complained about their sun-blocking umbrella fabric's odor. Mine did not have a strong odor. If yours does, I've read online (from people who'd bought another brand's UV blocking umbrellas) that opening the umbrella up and airing it out outside (for up to a month in some cases?) allows the chemical smells to dissipate. I didn't have to do this, but if you need to, that's the solution that others have suggested. Hope you'll get as good results from yours as I've gotten from mine. Best wishes to you in your outdoor endeavors. Be safe. :)

Cheaper Built Quality, Nice Fashionably
The quality wasn't what I was expecting. They use PLASTIC EVERYTHING where metal was used for my regular Totes umbrella. It has a nice finish and look, but my first impression is that something's gonna break on it. I would gladly pay a few more bucks or however much it would cost to get me something that will really last, but most people just look at the price. Update 7-31-2016: The umbrella, while consisting of mostly plastic components, does a really good job of keeping the sweltering heat and UV rays off my upper body while walking. Now I can go out at 2 pm when the sun is at its peak, and walk for exercise, without having to slather sunblock, and a wide brimmed hat. The only part of my body it doesn't cover, is my lower legs. This umbrella provides enough coverage for just one person. Two people? You will have to share it, each person taking their own turn. I don't think it will adequately cover two people at the same time. It is lightweight and the storage sheath it comes in, is a nice touch to maintain a hands free situation--so you don't have to carry it while somewhere, but still need to keep it with you. One thing to be careful about is wind. Because it consists of a lot of plastic parts, be careful the wind doesn't turn it inside out. The main shaft or rod the umbrella is built around, seems to be maybe aluminum, but it could be a plastic material as well, but I'm not sure.

Scarily Ineffectual, Pricey, Sun Umbrella that FAILS to Perform Essential Function!
Horrible, EXPENSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT! If you have a health reason for avoiding the sun, this product will not help! When I first removed it from the box I was so excited because the handle has a J curve to it so it's easy to hold on to, it came with a wonderful carrying case to be slung over the shoulder, and when I opened it up I thought great stitching made it well worth the money... Until I started walking with it & realized the size of the umbrella shade itself is minuscule, comprable to a travel umbrella - if not smaller. Prior to this I used a bit difficult to grasp $6 sun umbrellas that attache to lounge chairs for the beach, with a plastic clamp at the end for chair attachment. The cheap, reflective, light-weight chair umbrella functioned as a sun shield extremely well & provided shade for my entire body when walking. The scope of THIS umbrella shade is negligible, the wing span so small that if I make sure my head is shielded the hand holding the umbrella gets sun! Is it made well? Yes Does the stitching appear like it would last? Yes Does it have a reflective material? Yes, although the amount of silver on it definitely draws attention, (would be fine if it actually provided shade -- since doesn't, looks more like some kind of odd costume, or gives appearance of being a weird prop to flag attention for Intergalactic pick up). Is this suitable for someone with a medical reason for purchasing the umbrella? Absolutely NOT, unless stationary & sun source will only be directly overhead & you are child-sized. Regretting the loss of $50.... and I'm not sure how earned any certifications as a sun protection device -- it's limited sun shading capability basically negates any of its positives (well-made, easy to transport & hold). Since this does diddly squat to do what it's supposed to, feel cheated & $50 is a significant amount of money. I moved & this umbrella still in its delivery box unopened, went astray for awhile, otherwise would send it back post-haste. As is, manufacturer should send me something that properly functions, because basically sold me something based on false advertising & cheated me of the funds to purchase something that DOES work! Shame on seller & manufacturer - sold the equivalent of expired sun screen, pixie dust, or magic beans. P.s. Well, walked one way, but received too much sun -- even after a cold beverage, in air conditioning, could not do walk back with this umbrella frippery. I had to call a taxi to take me home. The 1.2 mile home cost $25. UPDATE: Finally found way to utilize this umbrella. If standing in line outdoors, waiting for a ride or taxi, or otherwise STATIONARY, product is sufficient because can position steadily enough to gain some function and nice carrying handle makes it easy to transport/hold. Not expansive sun blocking coverage, but enough for limited purposes of standing and waiting.
