MERCEDES-BENZ, The modern SL, The R107 and C107: From the 350SL/SLC to the 560SL and 500SL Rally

The book has got much to offer with numerous photos and very easy to read text, engine numbering sequencing, helpful buyers guide (which I have used to good effect) and broader reading around the W107. If anything, the line spacing and font size could be reduced to make it look more of a reference rather than a children's story book, but this is really a minor point.I think, although very useful, how the VIN data is presented could be improved to highlight changes over the production years in simplified format (tabulated?), but also give a list in the appendix of all the relevant options codes. I would have found the later useful when searching for a car, although there are a number of online 'de-coders' out there for this, it would be nice to finish off what is a great book.I wish there was a follow up with detailed maintenance and re-build in the series :-).

An extremely detailed (too detailed in places for me) book on the major aspects of the R/C107 SL. Poorly translated from the original German but contains some excellent photo's of owners' vehicles showing the different specifications of the car through its long production run.The book has a lot of great background and history which would be of interest to any owner and prospective buyer, as well as a good section on what to look out for when buying or owning one of these vehicles, clearly written from the author's experience.The book is generally very easy to read (translation issues aside) and is a valuable addition to the library of anybody who is interested in the marque. I don't really need to know the engine number sequencing and vital statistics of all worldwide engine specifications, but all the detail is here if you want it!

Properly the best book I have read from the point of view of someone who has a limited technical knowledge but just wants to have an understanding of the model and it's development. I also purchased another book from the same author re this model's early years. I would highly recommended both books.

Very well documented for an iconic classic car. I wish I could find a vehicle as easy as I found the book on Amazon. The only thing i felt was missing was a documented specification paragraph at the end showing colour choice and technical information.

This book is very comprehensive for its scale, with a wealth of information that will be of interest to anyone with a passion for or interest in this iconic car. In a readable style it makes an interesting history and a useful reference text.
