'The Continental' Gangster
Christopher Walken isn't who comes to mind as an iconic gangster character in film, but that is probably what you'd say before watching this movie. Frank White, which was The Notorious BIG's favorite alias, was a defining role for Walken in that his range of emotion could be seen as well as verbalized. The stoic pauses of the facial expressions he makes while executing a young hotheaded David Caruso says a lot to the extent that "So long Mel, have a good trip" could at the most equal but never surpass. I remembered this performance as well the cast which included Wesley Snipes (pre-Nino Brown), Laurence Fishburne as a sociopathic homeboy (played very convincingly btw), Steve "Nucky Thompson" Buschemi (blink twice and you'll miss him though lol), Theresa Randle, Giancarlo Esposito, Roger Geunver Smith, and even the guy who played Augustus on Oz (forgot his real name, sorry lol). I never realized that the first time i watched the film, which was acceptable considering this was way back in 95 on late night during a grade school year, but more or less it was the story that i recalled the most which made me buy this dvd. The special features are also cool, even though you might not sit through the entire short film about the director unless you're very familiar with him. The Schooly D feature is funny and kind of eye opening, because he has to be the most goofiest gangster rapper I've ever seen (and I see Waka Flacka everywhere down here in ATL lol). The music video he did for the movie, as well as the story behind it, was very entertaining also. All in all, if you remember Biggie calling himself Frank white, the movie itself from back in the day, or you just like watching Chris Walken stare vacantly while executing someone, then this is the DVD for thee.

A very wild look into a gang destined to do good while doing bad.
Christopher Walkin plays a very dangerous crime lord with a heart( but a cold one) and is destined to get the hospital he wants built at all costs. All of the actors in this movie play their hearts out to supplement the plot and the activities to support Christopher Walkin's goals.

Christopher Walken Is The Greatest Actor Ever
Christopher Walken and I are the same age and come from the same neighborhood in Astoria, Queens, NYC. His father owned Walken's Bakery in Astoria. Did we go to the same Public School, I don't remember back that far. But I have been a huge fan of his from the beginning when he played the nutty brother of Diane Keaton in Annie Hall. He didn't have much screen time in Annie Hall but you sure remembered him!I agree with the five star reviews of King of New York. Walken sure can creep you out! In any movie that he has been in, your eyes rivit to him immediately, he has such a huge presence in everything he does. Even on Saturday Night Live when he portrayed The Continental. He's a genius. And since he started his career as a dancer on Broadway, ever move he makes reflects his dancing Broadway career.I just purchased this movie on Amazon and will add it to my Christopher Walken collection. Damn, this guy is just the best!

pivotal roles for favorite actors; obviously popular film
Christopher Walken stars in this crime drama, along with David Caruso, Laurence Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, Victor Argo, Steve Buscemi, and other actors you will no doubt recognize from more contemporary film or TV series appearances. All very, very accomplished professionals, and this movie is better because of the cast. Also helping the movie right along, two lovely actresses contribute considerably to the viewer's enjoyment - Janet Julian (mid 1970's to late 1980's popular in several TV series), and Theresa Randle (still featured in contemporary TV series and films); both of whom qualify as top shelf ladies in all regards. What a fantastic cast, and this movie delivers what you watch crime drama movies for, in every category for a 20 year old film. Oh yes. Why then didn't I rate this purchased DVD as 5-star? Today's crime dramas have special FX and faster paced action, without having to rely so heavily upon a big-name cast. Had I rated this film 20 years ago (before the Internet even existed publicly), this film would have easily gotten a 5-star rating from me. From today's perspective, this DVD still gets a solid 4-stars though. Worthy of your purchase IMHO. Definitely worth watching.

Awesome
Ordered this thru Amazon from an excellent seller, and got it just in time for the holidays. Thanks to Amazon, I was able to get this on VHS, as I don't have a DVD yet."King Of New York" is a gritty, no frills crime drama set in Late 80s/early 90s New York. While considered "low budget" by many, this does in no way indicate that it is a low quality film. In fact, I know many "high budget" films that just plain suck. I enjoyed this movie from start to finish, and look forward to seeing it many more times. This film was definitely a breath of fresh air from some of todays bland, cluttered and yuppie infused flicks.A stellar cast, notably Christopher Walken, Wesley Snipes, David Caruso, Larry Fishburne, Giancarlo Esposito, and many more fine actors contributed to this spectacular, yet underrated film. One more thing..Mr. Walken, I have a feeling you were a Brotha in another life, lol

Christopher at his best!!
This is a classic CW movie and he shines in this action packed classic. If you like this actor then this is a must have DVD. If violence makes you uneasy then grab your blankie to throw over your head when the action starts!! Chris plays a New York City tough being released from prison...and his original turf has been hijacked from him by competitors. His original gang memebers are still intact...and they set the stage for his release by ELIMINATION. As Christopher says in the movie..."I JUST DON'T FEEL ANY REMORSE." He is a tough guy with a soft heart for his old neighborhood.....gotta see this one. This one compares with Al Pacino's shoot em up movies.....and it has a great supporting cast of well known actors.
