STORY: This elegant raw silk was purchased in the Indian open market by a friend, while she was visiting India. It was perfect for the vintage white linen exquisitely embroidered with gold silk thread. The embroidery method is called Tambour. Said to have originated in the mid and Far East, Tambour embroidery eventually reached Europe in the mid-1700s and quickly became a popular pastime for ladies. Instead of a needle, a hook is used to punch through the fabric. Tambour embroidery resembles a chain stitch. The coordinating back features an antique Parisian map on quality new cotton fabric. The streets and landmarks of Paris are a golden beige on a creamy white background. Nostalgic French! Gorgeous gold and clear vintage glass buttons firmly secure a custom down/feather insert.
