Ok so I got this awesome new chair. It goes up, it goes down, it reclines, it has lumbar support and a very comfortable design except I did the boneheaded thing... I didn't check the minimum height. The height of the new chair even at it lowest was too high for the desk I had. Not wanting to give up the chair since the only thing I didn't like about it was the height, I thought I'd give this a try. It fit perfectly and now the chair is at the height I want and this works flawlessly.

The great thing about this heavy duty unit is that it sits a couple inches higher than a standard one. That means even fully compressed I never sink to a level below normal working height. This effectively eliminates any downward adjusting, but also means that even if the piston fails, the chair will be at a usable height.

This gas lift lasted about a month with minimal slippage (I expect some incidental slipping every once in a while, and don't care much). As of today, though, it slips constantly, even though I am well below its advertised weight threshold. It has been 40 days since I ordered it, so roughly 35 or so since I put it in. Definitely not "heavy duty"; don't waste your money.

The product works as advertised, however based on the description I was expecting to receive two cylinders. In fact you have to go further down and click a button to "redeem a coupon" to get the 50% off. Never had an item on Amazon be so misleading.

Don't know, why this is actually on the market.The average person is somewhere between 5'6"-6'.This one makes you feel like a giant.If you are in the average height range, your knees will visit your ears.I put it in a drawer and have actually no use for it.My best guess is, it might be the correct height for a school kid, but not for a grown up.

this gas lift is a great edition for my office chair. let's hope it will last because i'm not a heavy person.

Fits and works perfectly on my chair. I don't think any of these things can be expected to last forever so it's nice to have a low cost replacement available if you don't want to replace the whole chair.
