The Kingfisher Atlas of World History: A pictoral guide to the world's people and events, 10000BCE-present

Too brief
This gives an extremely brief history over the ages. Each section left us with far more questions and a very, very vague idea of what happened during that time frame. I would not recommend this unless you want the extremely basic bullet points of what happened through the ages of humanity. (I should have listened more to other reviews but I just underestimated how brief each section is..)(Also, though I blame my son for this more so than I do the actual book construction, after a couple weeks of my son carrying this book and a lunchbox in his backpack, the entire book fell away from the spine of the cover. So now I have a book and a hard-back cover that are 2 separate things).

Growing in Knowledge
As a history buff, myself! I wanted to add this book into our homeschool education. I was not disappointed. The colors are impressive on each page, the history is wonderful and the book is great quality. This is a big book, easy for kids to read, as well as, understand. We are currently using it in our ancient Egypt study. I love that we can use it for all of our history we will grow in knowledge with this Atlas!

An Essential in Any Home Library
Every homeschool or home that hopes to bring the world into a child's scope should have this book. I actually showed it to several adults who are interested in it as well. It is filled with facts, maps and background information. This is an essential for our curriculum and I am thrilled that it is. It's so easy to work with and teaches things in a visual manner. I absolutely love this book.

Returned for the Kingfisher Encyclopedias
I didn't find this very useful and perhaps I shouldn't have thought it would be so for the price. The book is maps and pictures with notes on the margins. It is beautifully done and the timelines on each page are great. I was hoping seeing the maps and reading text together would help my visual learner grasp the material better. Because the content is limited to the edges or parts of the page, it doesn't go into depth. I wasn't expecting a deep dive, we can go online for that, but it was barely enough information to interest my child. We returned this and instead picked up the Kingfisher Geography and History Encyclopedias. This combo is working really well for us and worth the higher price point.

Its an excellent research tool for grade school to graduate study refreasher text.
I have a very detailed high school history book and the Kingfisher is nicely illustrated to enhance comprehension. On an additional note. The Kingfisher lists detailed settlements world wide of early settlements which helped me to understand the big picture in light of Mesopotamia.

Easy to read!
I bought this book because I apparently slept through every history lesson I've ever had. My son is entering kindergarten and I knew I would need some reference material if I were to ever help him study history. This book uses language my 5 year old understands but is fun for me to read. The index is put together very well and makes it incredibly easy to find what you're looking for. I imagine this book will be a good reference through high school.

With this book I'm learning history from my 7 year old
I can't recommend this book more, my son who is 7 loves this book and has learnt an enormous amount from it. It is well put together easy to pick up and covers all the most important areas of world history in an objective and attractive style. I think this book is suitable for any ages including adults and If you want a book on general history which is accessible, buy this book!!

Not children atlas but,...
An atlas from the eyes of a child. The book has very beautiful pictures with much effort has been made by the illustrator which has to be praised for her work unlike the writer. The contents is absolutely bios and one sided. he sees and described the world history as liked personally and very narrow minded. The book is not truthful or informative, it is very judgemental and at times insulting (language). It is not looking at events as it has happened or the contribution it may have had or great achievements but how he felt about them. After all the book IS FOR a child. If you considering it for a naive and less informed 4 year old who will specially enjoy the picture, is OK but not for a well informed 8 year old which one of them asked me: why is so little been said here or nothing been said there.
