Absolutely! Killer Headphones for the Price
This is a no brainer. I compared these to my Neuman closed ear phones, which were a bunch more expensive, and we're all in the same sandbox here. It's very impressive what Avantone does and the value they offer. With these phones, you may notice nothing much happens when you put them into "cube" mode, which is normal. The ability to switch on "mono" on the earset is genius; all studio headphones should have that switch. In normal mode these headphones sound very very good. I am very glad to have them.

Need to know before buying
These aren’t your average headphones. These are a different style of headphones to listen to information on. Don’t buy these expecting “perfect” everything. These are studio headphones that have 3 reference settings. Yes, the lows are a little big. However, scan your mix vs. a professional mix on these. Low frequency waves are longer and larger than high frequency waves, so the closer the crest or trough is on a low frequency is to you ear, the greater the chance of your ear literally sitting in a null. But you should also use this more prominent bass algorithm to manage properly and not give to much. If you listen to a mastered mix on these, you will hear a lot of lows. Almost too much. Bass management is key so if the headphones are giving you a lot, manage the bass down. It’s all in how you use these. You should also mix at low volume on these cans. You will hear a better definition in studio mode at a lower level. I have a pair of Ultrasone 550PRO that I’ve use daily for the better part of 20 years. I can safely say the these are fine as long as you use your understanding of audio. Mix in mono, at low volume, check In stereo in studio mode at low volume. Back and forth occasionally. These aren’t as light as my Ultrasone as they are feather light but they don’t make your head or ears tired. For under $200 these are well worth this asking price and will suit anyone who properly knows what to listen for when mixing and scanning a mix.

Love them!
I used these in a recording studio for mixing and loved them. I bought them for my husband and he loves them too. Wonderful warm quality and sensitive to panning, very dimensional. I have to be careful not to use them yoo much since I putchased them ad a gift, lol!

1/5 for inaccurate description - 5/5 for headphones
The MP1 I ordered was supposed to be NEW and unopened. The package was clearly opened before. The plastic sticker was re applied, and the box was partially ripped. The head phones had to be used before, as it had blemishes marks on the butter cream toned part. I found headphones out of place and everything seemed to just thrown in there. I understand it could have been due to shipping so I won't make a big deal out of it - just make note of this. I really like the headphones itself, it works just fine - BUT they should have been honest in listing an accurate description. Especially when I am paying the brand new, retail price. I was sold what seemed to be USED pair rather than a NEW one. I really wish I could give a 5/5 but it's hard to be excited about used/blemished headphones. To review the headphones themselves:These are some real big cans - solid but lightweight. You will be able to use these for a whole session and not be bothered. I am not going to judge based on looks, because I did not buy it for its appearance.Sonically, these are great headphones. I ordered these after weeks of research, comparing to others by specs in the price range (HD600s,650s, AKGs) The main feature that made me go with the MP1 was the triple functionality for mono, stereo, and mix cube. It is extremely unique for mixing headphones. The ability to test my mixes in mono made my final decision. If you can make a mix sound good in mono, it will be brilliant in stereo. I figured this would be a better option than the mix cube, so I can mix in my bedroom without bothering my roommates. These also don't necessarily need a power amp. I'm not using one and it's holding up well. The ability to toggle between settings really helps in noticing offensive/muddy sounds. I was blown away after mixing on these and then previewing on my monitors. My mix sounded crazy good. I make hip hop/rnb music with a strong bass/808 element. I found that the bass was lacking, but I did the final touch on the studio monitors. These are very flat sounding headphones - which is a good thing for mixing purposes. I would recommend the headphones.Wish I could give this 5 stars. I was disappointed in getting what seemed to be a previously opened set of headphones.

Updated: From Five Stars to Four Stars... great cans, bad customer service
Best purchase I’ve made in a long time.***Update:*** After a couple of years of use, I have to say these things have held up OK for the most part. The top padding kind of came loose from where they clamp into the ends of the bands relatively early, but it doesn't lose any functionality. They come apart with regular hex wrenches, which is really nice. My neck is used to holding up a pretty big head, but I really can't imagine anybody but the thinnest of pencil necks finding them to be heavy. One annoying thing— after I'd used these things for many thousands of hours, the ear pads became compressed and the edges of my ears rubbed up against the cloth inside. No problem, I figured— I'll just see if the manufacturer will sell me a new set. I emailed them and after a weirdly protracted waiting period, they said they'd sell me a pair... for FORTY BUCKS!I just measured across the bare unpadded can and bought a generic leather pair of the same diameter. Since they are easy to disassemble the new pads were easy to install. They work even better than the originals. Now I've preached the gospel of these headphones for years. I love them. The fact that they got me to drop a star off of the review should be an indicator of just how negative of an impression that left upon me. Take heed, Avantone— that's not the way to treat loyal, word-of-mouth spreading customers over a little piece of foam and pleather. I've summarily stopped recommending their products to anyone because I won't stand behind a company that gouges people for replacement parts.

A good tool
These really help smooth out a mix. If you must use headphones so far I found these to be best.
