I needed a new lamp for my home office and this was pretty similar to one I'd had in the past. There is no set up other than pulling it out of the box and unwrapping it. Power cord plugs in to a regular outlet. Has one USB port, which is fine, I use it for a short cable to charge whatever I need at the moment - my phone, my mouse, my keyboard. Light intensity is great - at the highest setting it'll make you go blind if you look at the LCD bulbs, and the lowest setting is good enough to light my desk and work on my laptop. It has a timer, which would be useful for a bedside lamp when you'd be too sleepy to reach over and turn it off. It does have a wireless phone charger, but I'm not using it because I have a phone ring on the back of my phone. Overall quite useful, very economical. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

The good: I like the color and brightness, as well as having 3 choices of brightness. It's only useful because the base is heavy enough to support the lamp head when extended far forward - they got this right. The swivel feature of the head is essential for some applications. It's great for closeup work or reading at a table.Not so good:1) The touch switch is very poorly designed. Sometimes it doesn't respond even with repeated touches. How hard you press doesn't matter (and shouldn't). NOTE: it works a little better if you touch the base with 4 fingers flat together (covering the whole base on the end of the base with the touch button) instead of just one finger tip. It will still behaves unpredictably, just less so.2) As noted by others, if I run the lamp on the second (medium) brightness level, the lamp will suddenly switch to full brightness, even when I'm nowhere near the lamp. It does this unpredictably, but only sometimes.Note: I haven't tested whether the USB-A port in the back can power other devices since I don't need tis.

The lighted arm is about 5-6 inches higher than the top edge of my 15.4” laptop when the lid is open. As a result, if I lean forward a bit to view my screen, the lighted arm is shining into my left eye. I need glare-free lighting. That’s why I chose a black lamp, as the white ones reflect glare off their base and stem. So, this lamp is black, and reflects no glare from the base and stem, but it’s a few inches too high to work with a laptop. I wish I could just chop the extra inches off and keep it, because otherwise it would have been fine. Or else the height should be adjustable.
