(for Steam Deck) very grippy and helpful, a bit tough to install, a bit too easy to remove
I bought a previous set of thumbstick caps, from another company, for my Steam Deck. They were decent, but only came in short and tall. I ordered this set because it had a mid height pair and the diamond grain pattern looked like it might be better. I definitely prefer the mid height, and they do feel better overall than the other brand. The diamond grain pattern, which is convex, seems more effective than the cracked bomb pattern, which is concave. I'm not sure if the pattern or shape is the determining factor, but the cracked bomb/concave caps just didn't seem to grip as well. They also fit better in my TomToc bag (which provides a snugger fit than I expected), tall caps stick out too far. So no need to take them off and reattach them just to carry the Deck around safely. The only issues I have, which aren't deal-breakers, I mentioned in the headline. I found them tougher to install than expected. Flipping the small lip that holds them to the stick is a bit tricky, and it took several tries to get each on. Once I got them on, I ran into the other issue. As I titled them slightly to get a better look to confirm they were fully on, they just came off. Almost no effort. While normal use doesn't involve moving them like that, and it seems like they'll be fine when used as intended, it was a little concerning how little they held on. It'd be more concerning if I intended to use the tall caps, since those seem more likely to slip off. I think the problem, which the other brand avoided, is that the lip is too short. This makes it harder to pull back to attach the cap AND easier for it to slip off if pushed too far. The lip on the other brand was noticeably longer, but those caps were actually easier to attach AND took more effort to remove. All that said, the caps grip the sticks enough that I'm not super worried about them. Would just have been nice if they were just a little more secure.

Exactly as displayed
Probably not going to buy kontrol freeks anymore as these are just as good. The big/high ones can come off if you get excited like me and jostle it too hard. If it only partially comes off, just twist it until it twists back on fully. Its a little bit annoying but not enough to make me give this 4 stars instead of 5. Update: 11/1/24 - Still love them. forgot i reviewed them already and came to say i still like them just as much. to install, get about 1/3 of the cover over the joystick, push it down, then twist and twist and twist. makes installation very very fast

Best "Low Profile" Caps I Have Used
If you are looking for Kontrol Freek alternatives and something that is Low Profile without being concave, this is the best bet I have found so far. Normally, I would not buy anything that does not have the "claws" that wrap around the thumb stick because caps that go over the top of the stick usually get loose and fall off very fast. The lowest rise pieces are the only ones I have or would use in this kit and they are nice and rubbery and do not slide around on the stick and provide great grip on your fingers. Not as good as the newest rubber technology from Kontrol Freek, but KF does not offer anything this low profile that is convex and the rubber is more than adequate and better than stock grips. If this sounds like what you have been looking for, I would recommend these to you.

Best Thumb Grips Available
I have tried a bunch of thumbs grips and these are by far my favorite. The domed sticks with bumpy texture feel better than anything I’ve tried. I’ve ended up putting them on every controller I can get them for. This version I put on my DualShock Edge and went with the medium height on both sticks. I saw some mention of issues these falling off but mine feel super tight and I have no concern of that even when I tried the tallest ones. They feel high quality and definitely improve the functionality of the controller. Overall, I’d say for the money and the amount of grips you get this is a great buy.

Difficult
A little trick if you buy these, get the lip of the grip under the joystick then twist the grip around it to get the lip all the way around the bottom. Otherwise it's impossible to get on. On a positive note I don't think this thing will ever fall off. Material is good, squishy yet grippy.

Best grips!
I've tried many different grips, but these turned out to be the most reliable! First, they are cheap, and second, the surface doesn't wear off like it does on Kontrol Freek grips. You can see in the photo what happened to my Kontrol Freek after a few months.

They pop off to easy
Thought this might happen and it did. The caps are a pain to put on and pop off way to easy. I would send them back but not worth the time.

Watch the video on their website. You’ll be able to install them.
When I first tried to install these I was like what the hell, there’s no way these things fit. Then in a last ditch effort to makes sense out these I referred to the manual. It tells you how to actually install them. When you get them they’ll probably be cold (depending on your climate) just work with them the rubber will warm and they will be more pliable and easier to work with. You’ll understand. This is just my initial thoughts as I’ve haven’t actually used them in play. I’ve seen people say they pop off. Now consider if your using a tall version of this grip and your pushing on the edge and not more on top most likely you will push them off, it’s exactly how you would push them to take them of. So mechanics are mechanics it’s just the way it is. But so they fit nicely. If I don’t come back to revise this review consider that I’m completely satisfied with the product. I’ll only revise if they fail (in my opinion). So far so good. Follow the video on their site. You’ll be good to go. Price wise: good price

Bought these as the original thumbstick top had come loose. Installed the biggest one, and bit of a mare for me. Came off within about 10 minutes of vigorous usage (Fifa 23). Installed next size down, and its perfect. Comfortable, durable, and not come off. Will say, they are a bit of a bugger to install (you need strong thumbs!)
