Good for my purpose, but quantity was too much (I could not order less)
I used the Sisal Rope to refurbish the circular flat base of a cat scratching post. The product worked fine even though the original sisal was 1/4 inch. The problem was to determine how to attach it to the circular flat base. I finally got some adhesive calking and spread a thin surface on the flat base, then pressed the sisal in a circular pattern on the base. Then clamped it and let it dry. I've got a LOT of sisal left but could not find a way to order less. I may have to refurbish all the cat scratchers in the neighborhood :-)

yes, it has a smell, but so does hay.
A lot of people have reported a heavy smell with this rope and yeah, it does smell, but it's not oil, it's the fact that the rope is made from SISAL which is fibers scraped from Agave plants. It does have a slight gasoline/mineral spirits smell to it, but this is natural, not chemically added. That said, this rope has done a great job of reworking our cat's towers.

Sisal can be of various shades. Get enough from one source to complete the project.
We are wrapping it around a floor-to-ceiling cat tree we’ve had for decades. Just installed it over worn carpet. Sisal is very tough on the hands so wear gloves or be ready. Looks nice when done and should out last the next kitty.
