Interesting young wine best suited to red meats
Not an overly bad wine, certainly young and best suited to consuming alongside red meats or mature cheese's. While it is listed as a Cabernet Sauvignon I would personally say it tastes more like a Merlot. Hints of dark fruit berries with a woody, lightly burnt finish.Best with food.

The Bottle May Not Be Much To Look At But This Simple Red Is Simply Brilliant
I wasn't exactly expecting to be that amazed with this wine. After all at £6.02 (at time of writing - July 2021) it is towards the more affordable end of the wine spectrum. So I decided to save it to drink it during the football one evening. It's a screw top lid and once opened I used an aerator to pour, (even cheaper wines need to be treated well!). The nose is berry laden with a strong oak to it and pleasant enough, though not that overly complex. On taking my first sip, (as I wasn't expecting much from it), it took me by surprise. The palate was simple and gorgeous. Strong sweet cherry and a slight acidity to it that made it such an easy wine to drink. I poured some more!Yes it is a bit one dimensional but it does that dimension superbly well and sometimes that is all you need. Complex (expensive) wines certainly have their place but a simple tasty (affordable) red, in front of the TV, can be just as awesome. This for the price is excellent and I would definitely consider getting it again.

Easy drinking young cabernet
A well-priced young South African cabernet. Most of Amazon's Compass Road brand offerings tend to represent a decent quality example of their type, for a reasonable cost, and this 2019 offering continues the theme. With a well-balanced profile of blackcurrent and red rather than bramble fruits, mild tannins and an average 13.5% ABV, it makes for an ideal, easy-drinking red that can be enjoyed by itself, or with richer meals. There is some reasonable depth here from the wood, a touch of spice, and a slightly dry finish. Packaging is the usual straightforward Compass Road basic bottle and simple labeling, which does what it needs to do. Overall, well worth considering: it's a very decent young wine for a sensible price, and probably better than a good number of big-name offerings around the £5 - £7 bracket.

Another reasonable wine from Compass Road
The Compass Road range from Amazon has been expanding in recent months and this latest addition is a Cabernet Sauvignon. I was interested to see what Amazon had picked here from South Africa to add to the range, having been impressed with others given the point at which they are pitched. The bottle label is inoffensive and the screw cap is as expected in terms of packaging. The flavour of the wine is fruity but dry, it would perhaps go well with a steak. It's relatively easy drinking.Overall then, given where this is pitched I would say it’s a decent wine. If you’re looking for a few bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon, this is definitely worth a look.

Lovely medium bodied wine
I was quite quite pleased with this wine and it was better than I expected. This wine is medium to dry bodied which is very pleasant to drink. It's a screw top lid, when I opened it I left the wine in the bottle for a while before drinking. The wine had a pleasant smell and taste of ripe berries and oak spice. Very soft tannins which is much appreciated.I think it is a very pleasant wine with excellent price (£5.70 on the day I wrote my review). Before I would normally go for wine from France or Spain but this one from South Africa has changed my perception and I would love to buy again.

Lacks flavour & depth
Ok, I am no wine aficionado but I do like a good wine, whether cheap or expensive. I thought I’d give this a go with some steak - I do tend to have something heavier than a Cabernet Sauvignon with this. Nicely warmed, big glass and away you go but I did not really. For me this wine was missing a lot. Sadly, that included flavour and depth. Even with drinking this with something lighter than steak, I think I would still feel let down by the shallowness. For an inexpensive wine, it does not really deliver for me.I hope you found this review & photos interesting, informative, and useful. Thanks for reading.NB. For a sizing guide, squares in photos are 1cm.

Quick Reviews!
It's not the best Amazon brand red I've tried - far too bitter for my taste and I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again. Still, it does the job of helping push the last swallow of steak through and once the initial bitterness passes there's enough flavour to make you come back for another gulp.

Great tasting red wine at a great price
This is a really good value red wine that is a really delightful mix of light and smooth but the flavours and more full bodied and complex. I really like a light easy drinking red wine, and on my first taste of this I started a bit concerned that it was going to be dry and hard to drink simply because it packs in a surprising amount of flavour. But as I drank more and more it never became dry or hard to drink, it was a really nice combination of flavours and texture that went down easily and tasted great. And at it’s current price it is cheaper than a lot of supermarket offerings so it really is worth a try and if you enjoy it switch and save yourself some money.
