Story about real people
Although the Spanish included in this series is not part of my wheelhouse, and I miss not understanding the meaning, I did enjoy a story that could be possible. Can’t wait to read the 2nd book in this series.

This goes straight to your heart
"The energy I feel with this girl in every other place is like the way the air feels right before a thunderstorm. Sparks everywhere."Bad Idea was my first book by Nicole French and it really took my by surprise. It's a story so full of deep and honest love, loss and letting go, it broke my heart several times."All that electricity that's been building for the last two weeks finally sparked, and now it's full-fledged fire."The story progression is pretty slow, but this way we get to know Nico and Layla with the same intensity and pace they get to know each other. I fell hard for both of them for all the same reasons they fell for each other."One breath, and it's like I've never had oxygen. One look at your blue eyes, and water never existed. F***, Layla, I don't just want you. I need you."Even though I think Nico is quite selfish in many situations and I hate him for that, he does so many things right. The way he takes care of her, the way he makes her feel and sways her of her feet and steady her the same time. Nicole did a great job transferring the mixed feelings of the want to follow your dreams and true love. I hate that Nico made decisions that broke Layla's heart more than once, but at the same time I understood why he did it. And I totally could see and feel, why he could never let her actually go."...when you love someone, really love them and need them, to live without them is to live without water or air."Layla is a strong heroine. You might not see it right away and she might not see it herself, but falling in love with Nico changed her and made her even stronger than she already was. The way she believes in Nico is simply wonderful and stunning. The most selfless decision Layla made was letting him go even though it broke her almost beyond repair. She saw something in him and would never let him sacrifice his dreams and the possibility of finding himself not even for her true love she felt for him."She might be the best thing that ever happened to me, but I was always a bad idea."Bad Idea is a very emotional read full of angst and great chemistry. It will tear you apart with its cliffhanger and leaves you wanting more. This story, about Nico and Layla who are from different sides of the tracks with completely different upbringings is pretty captivating and goes straight to your heart.

Nicole French is the MASTER of writing intricately woven angst, steam, sizzle, and sweetness!!!
Bad Idea is the first book I have read by author Nicole French. I could not have possibly loved this book more. In fact, I would say that to date in 2017, Bad Idea is without question my favorite book of the year.Bad Idea is a story about extraordinarily beautiful Layla Barros, a 19-year old college student at NYU. Having fought a long and hard battle to even attend NYU, Layla has is forced to get a part-time job to afford everything except basic tuition costs - the only thing her affluent parents are willing to help her with. Like most things that happen in life, good things come when you are least expecting it. Layla knew Nico Soltero was all wrong for her. I mean, he was the wrong age, had the wrong education and job. Basically the wrong everything. Yet, the connection between them was palatable to everyone within a three-block radius in New York City! Yet love is never easy or convenient and Layla and Nico will have to make life-altering decisions...The only question that remains is will they make them together or apart?I loved this book for so many reasons. First and foremost, the characters of Layla and Nico stole my heart right from the start...which coincidentally was how quickly I got sucked into this story. Bad Idea's characters and plot were both extremely well developed. There was nothing simple about this storyline at all. Both characters have had to work for everything their whole lives, and that doesn't end just because their hearts have found one another. Also, as the story is told with duel perspectives, we, the audience understand so much more about both Layla and Nico. They were written so well that at times, you actually felt their emotions. Throughout this book, I would have goosebumps! Another point in this books favor, the dialogue! The dialogue keeps the story progressing without any lulls and helps tie you emotionally to both the storyline and it's characters.Nicole French stood out as a true master! The intricately woven steam, sizzle, sweetness and angst left me literally shaking off and on throughout the story. Nico is passionate and very deep. He is also extremely sexual in a way that Layla has never experienced before. The heat in this book is intense, and it just seems to build and build. Trust me, this is seriously the signs of a skilled romance author...I mean, sometimes sex, making love, and doing the downright dirty is a very, very fine line.I really hated leaving Bad Idea's with a mere 5 stars. It deserves so much more. I was so captivated by the story and I know other readers will be too!!!

Okay
This was the first book that I've read by this author. Unfortunately, it has took me a while to finish it. I got stuck in a reading funk while reading it and I wasn't sure if it was me or the book. Now, let me start with the story. It is very long and drawn out. It ends in a cliffy and it makes you want to carry on ASAP. While there was parts of the book that was repeated and drawn out, the last 30% of the story was addictive. I didn't think I'd carry on with this series at the beginning but by the end of it I know I need to know what happens next.I love Nico. His character is everything I love. He's kind, caring, attentive, and doesn't realise how great he is. Layla annoyed the life out of me at the beginning, but she grew on by the end.I do hope Layla and Nick get a happy ever after, because race and ethnicity means nothing in this day and age. They might appear to be different, but really they're not.

I liked the fact that these characters had to work at ...
It took me a little while to get into this story but after the first few chapters I couldn't put it down. .I actually ended up buying books two and three halfway through as I needed to know what happened to Layla and Nico. They were from opposite sides of the wealth scale and this bothered Nico more than Layla . I felt so much adoration for him, looking out for his family and putting them first . Even though Layla was born into wealth she had to fend for herself and found it very hard. I think that's why she understood Nico so well.I liked the fact that these characters had to work at life and love but as usual life doesn't always to plan. Nico is certainly the gorgeous bad boy that girls fall for and I think once once you fall in love with characters you enjoy the book so much more. A great read!!

Refreshing!
I loved this book so much! The author was able to draw me into the world of Nico and Layla with ease. I have to admit holding my breath at times, as the angst between the two characters became unbearable. I can understand why some reviewers have admitted to shedding a few tears! I've purchased book two on the strength of this book. I hope that the next story continues with as much strength and passion as the first. I didn't give the full 5 stars because I felt that the pace lingered about two thirds of the way through. I'll definitely watch out for this author in the future though!

A bitter - sweet romance 4.5 stars
A really heart-warming age-gap romance between Layla, a student, and Nico, a dreamer. These two have a lot of chemistry and heat, and are so perfect for each other, but fate seems to have other ideas. This ended on a bitter-sweet note, but it is book 1, in a series, so hopefully we'll get the HEA by the end.

Amazing
I could not put this book down. It had absolutely everything that I love in a book- amazing characters who ooze chemistry, a plot that is different , twisting and keeps me hooked until the last page and cleverly written dialogue. This had all of that.It honestly will go in my top 5 of favourite books. Can't wait for book 2.
