This book is intense. I love the underlying messages of love, faith and acceptance found in these stories at least for me. Because even if something isn't the norm and even if that extends to already not typical interest doesn't mean it's wrong and doesn't mean you are alone. This author does a brilliant job of creating a bdsm romance that while very hot and thorough isn't only sex. These love stories have well developed characters who have 'real life's and other problems they face that we get to see and connect with on another level. This story is one of my favorites in this series. Now while I think you can get just a little more out of this story by reading it in order, I actually didn't and did not feel lost or confusion d at all so it's really up to you. Ben and Marcie are both head strong and capable characters who have similar but different issues to deal with from their past. And these issues alone and together are no easy thing to overcome they do and eventually get their HEA. Loved this book and this series would highly recommend.

Heavy handed love
Ben and Marcie's story was an experience of mind over body, complete control and total surrender.Ben was a bone chilling Master. He was tough and relentless, and the things he did to Marcie was off the charts erotic.Their relationship was twisted and tangled in a power of wills I thought was going to break Marcie in two, but she was a strong submissive. But Ben was a stronger Dominate, and he used everything he had to bring Marcie to her knees and to him.I won't forget this one for a long time. Beautiful Ben will haunt me in my sleep. Joey Hill is a Master in the dominate world.

HLB Reviews Hostile Takeover
I tend to be very wishy-washy when it comes to BDSM books. It's not the subject matter that bothers me, it's the way its written. I hate women who are too stupid too live, those are not characters I can get behind. I hate male characters who are basically written as dominates so they basically be abusive. Also I hate when BDSM is marketed as BDSM and then it's like vanilla kinky, like seriously, if you aren't actually going to write it, then don't call it that. I have been disheartened with a lot of the books I have read, so I went a mission, I was find ones I liked, that were well written, had actual plot lines, and characters that didn't annoy me to death. After A LOT of searching on board, I came across this authors name, and this book in particular. I kind of LOVE when there is a best friends sister kind of vibe, and this one had it in spades, so that really helped me in taking to the book.So Marcie is a young woman, fresh out of college and working at the company/firm her brother in law is part owner in. There are five other guys who are in the group, and Marcie basically came into their life when her sister took custody of her, so she was a teenager. Ben was kind of her rock, he was kind to her, readily gave her advice, helped her when she needed it, just in general made her feel better about life. But it was never inappropriate, she was young had a big time crush, but he always acted like an older brother type and gently dealt with the crush aspect. Of course years later Marcie is back, and she's grown up, and her eyes and heart are still set on Ben.So Marcie was an interesting character for me, a lot of time submissives are kind of portrayed as being weak willed or without any kind of opinion of their own, but that wasn't Marcie. She knew she wanted Ben, and she went for it. Even when he told her that it wasn't going to happen, she wasn't deterred. She also stood up to Ben when she needed to, she spoke her mind, she told him point blank how she felt, what she wanted, she didn't hold back. I loved that about her. She's a really strong person in general, she didn't exactly have it easy growing up, so it was easy to like her.Ben on the other hand was way more closed off the Marcie was. He had some hang-ups that he needed to deal with. It was fun for me to watch him try to set limits on himself when it came to Marcie, and then watch him completely just fail at being able to work within those limits. He definitely had a lot more growth to go through as a character then Marcie did, and in a lot of ways I feel like this is his story of evolution. I liked that he was fallible, he definitely makes mistakes in this book, but he also owns up to them and is ready to take the punishment for those mistakes.Without a doubt this book had an extensive cast of character, given that it's book 5 it's totally understandable. I thought it was easy to jump into even without reading the prior books. I thought the BDSM aspects were really well written. I also thought this book was much more character driven then a lot of BDSM books are, and it made those elements all the more intriguing because of the character development. All in all this was definitely a book I enjoyed and I would read more by this author in the future.

Marcie has been unabashedly in love with him since she was 16 and pursues him ...
At times, this was a harsh book to read. Ben is a brutal, unbending and unemotional Master. Marcie has been unabashedly in love with him since she was 16 and pursues him with stalkerish intent. Their encounter at his Garden District home is so vividly written and powerful you feel you are there with the two participants. Marcie seems incapable of telling Ben no and he almost took it too far. Yet, she takes him emotionally where no one else ever has. Interactions between the two of them are volatile and nearly out of control. She pushes every one of his buttons until he pushes her away. His "brothers" take him to task for physical harm he inflicts on Marcie while trying to convince her they will never be Master and slave. As usual, there is a bit of comic relief from Dana with her sarcastic quips and the good natured ribbing between the Knights. Some teary eyed, poignant moments occur during Jeremy's memorial service. Marcie's breakdown emotions and the subsequent support given her by the Knight's wives are beautifully written. I think this series has moved into one of my all time favorites and will definitely be reread again and again. I am a Joey W. Hill fan and plan to read more of her work.

Excellent Read
I loved Ben and Marcie's story. I loved how she keep pushing him and trying to get him to surrender and be her Master and how he kept trying to push her away. This story was unique and I enjoyed it a lot. I would highly recommend it.

Fantastic ending to this mini series....
**SPOILERS**What a great book!! I've laughed, cried, gotten really mad and practically cheered at the end. I loved Marcie - so fun loving and feisty, and all with one single purpose in mind since she was 16 - to love Ben and be his 'slave'. Such great strength of character, she was 'there' for everyone, and ultimately when she really needed him after he'd nearly brought her to her knees, Ben wasn't there for her either! Luckily, she found she had another 'family' with the K & A men and their wives supporting her, and at last, Ben was forced to admit what he didn't ever want to admit - that he loved her as well. Yippee!! I'm really gutted that I've finished the book. Now it's time to start on the 'Nature of Desire' series, and read Lucas and Peter's stories. P.S. Why aren't they on Kindle??

Loved it!!!!
I had never heard of the Knigths of the board room when I picked up this book. The blurb drew me in and I thought I would give it a try. From the moment I started to read I was drawn in. Marcie is an engaging character and from the first I was backing her in her endevour to hook her man or master in this case. Braver lady then me it has to be said and fair play to her for sticking with her dream no matter what stood in her way!I fell for Ben hard! My heart bled for the boy he had been and melted for the man he had become....well apart for one time out side the club...i won't spoil it..but seriously he needed a smack upside the head.....But as a whole I loved this book and will most assuredly be getting the rest of the Knights......... ;D

Hostile Takeover
This is one of the best series of books I've ever read, with this book my favourite. The characters draw you in and the way it's written makes it a page turner. Great BDMS scenes and at last an erotica book with depth. Also a writer that shows an aptitude for vocabulary and grammar, rare in this genre

Hostile Takeover
Enjoyed this romantic BDSM erotic novel. Plenty of sex, sensual play no holes barred! If you don't like anal sex keep away from this book as it features quite heavily but romance is really the name of the game and the resolution of troubled lives.
