STORY: This exquisite plump pillow is adorned with a beautiful antique French handmade hanky purchased recently and delivered from France. A steady hand carefully stitched this excellent example of early 20th century French handwork. The initials CB or LB had been neatly embroidered in the corner. This French antique hanky is truly exquisite! Golden yellow and ink black toile fabric was found at a little antique store. Toile fabric comes from the French phase "Toile de Jouy." It originated in the 1800s in a village near Paris called "Jouy en Josas." Toile typically depicts a pastoral scene in one color repeated several times. You can find this iconic design on dishes, wall coverings, and fabrics. So very French! On the back of the pillow, you will find midnight black quality linen with striking vintage complementary gold/black buttons.
