Plastic warps so easily. This is solid, you can really feel the difference between the two. Bought one for my wife’s kayak that she doesn’t have yet. Great purchase.

I fish every week from my 2022 Hobie Outback here in the Florida Keys, I can’t believe I haven’t purchased this sooner. Immediate difference in responsiveness from steering and excellent tracking, I found myself using the steering less and fishing a lot more. Installations was very easy, a bunch of YouTube videos explain how to change this.My previous rudder was bent out of shape from the strong currents here and thus resulted in terrible tracking, the aluminum is a strong sturdy replacement. I did install some gorilla tape along the hull of the kayak so the aluminum from the rudder won’t damage the kayak. Overall excellent product and fast delivery from shipper, installation took 10 minutes.

This rudder upgrade is easily one of the best modifications to make to your hobie kayak. The performance it provides is far greater than the standard rudder... Changing directions is so much faster and the kayak isnt thrown around as much and tracks straighter when ocean kayak fishing. If you have a hobie kayak you wont regret getting this. It was a game changer. easy to install as well

I haven’t been able to get out on the water with this yet, but the install process was very straightforward and the build quality is outstanding. I’m confident that this will be a real improvement.
