Buy these pants right now ... just buy them.
Let me start by admitting I have owned these pants for a total of 2.7hrs, so I won't speak to their durability.Just arrived today in the mail, as in USPS (which arrives alot earlier in the day than UPS etc.). They come in this little plasic bag, rolled up to roughly the size of a hand towel, and completely wrinkled. I put them on right away to test the fit, and was surprised to find the wrinkling was gone pretty quickly, within a few hours of wear.I struggle to find pants that fit well as I'm 5'2" and ~135lbs, athletic build by dad standards. I usually wear American eagle 28x28 jeans, but I've gotten tired of the poor durability, and I hate that their size changes based on how long it's been since they've been washed (i.e. cotton/denim sucks). So after much reading and thinking I bought these Prana Zion Stretch in 28x30, figuring I would just hem them. Even though they are available in 28x28, that availability is mostly theoretical because I can't seem to find them unless I wanna pay full price for them in blue.Fit: I used the fit guide on Prana.com and it was spot on. It suggested 28x28, I also measured my waist using a tape measure and it was 30.75", so within the 30-31" recommended by Prana for a size 28 pants. The waist was spot on; perfect fit. The 30" inseam was slightly long, but alot shorter than I had anticipated. I won't them, and I won't bother looking for 28x28 anymore; 28x30 is fine. 28x30 jeans are never ok for me, they get all bunched up and look like crap.Style: I think they have a similar leg width to bootcut jeans, probably slightly narrower, but they still fit well over my boots. I definately wouldn't wear them to corporate event, but I work in a pretty casual environment, and they would be fine. If you're company requires business casual, these pants are not. If they allow casual, you're good. They look pretty cool overall. Reasonably 'outdoor'-stylish, not super baggy.Quality/value: Stitching looks good, fabric seems like good quality. Thicker than expected; these are not ultrathin pants. Regular price is $85. Yeah that's right ... you could buy like 3 pairs of dockers on sale for that price ... but then you'd be wearing dockers. I paid $50, and at that price I'll buy them all day. I end up paying nearly $40 for jeans because so few brands even make my size, finding a sale is nearly impossible. So for me, at $50 value is very good. At $85, I'd buy if I needed to, but I'd do everything in my power to wait.Comfort: Super comfortable. Imagine not wearing pants but still being warm and being allowed in public. They are actually slightly rough to the touch both inside and outside, but being stretchy, they never really press against you very hard. I've always worn jeans, but I may never go back.Durability: TBD. Nylon and synthetics in general are known to be far superior to cotton or wool in durability so my hopes are high.Stretch: They call this 4-way stretch. Maybe it is; I'm not a textiles expert. But I am an engineer, and I can tell you that I tested the stretch in a variety of directions and they don't seem to stretch at all in the direction from foot to hip.Warmth: I live in upstate NY, which unless you're from Montana, ND, Wisconsin, or Minnesota means unrecognizably cold. Today was not terrible at 16F and windy. These pants are significantly warmer than jeans.Applications: Obviously hiking. I bought these for general outdoor stuff, in particular hunting and scouting for hunting; for those non-hunters, scouting is like hiking but not on a trail. I suspect these will be perfect. Only downside is they are a little loud, but unless you draw your bow with your feet you'll be ok.Again, just buy them. Cheers.

First Impressions: good with flaws
Just received the pants and took them out for short excursions around town. These pants are really lightweight and thin, which is a plus over the UF-Pro P40 pants I've been wearing out hiking and field work in the lava fields, but time will tell how well the fabric will hold up against those rocks. The waist is adjustable without needing a belt which is nice however while it hasn't bothered me yet, I anticipate that the plastic toggle will irritate me when I'm wearing a belt. The plastic snap buttons are also a nice feature for when you want to roll up your pants for more breathability. Not a feature I see myself using but it's nice to know I have the ability to do that when needed. One of the best features is the vent holes on the crotch gussets. Normally I would unzip the fly on my other pants to allow breathability but these vent holes are extra. Did I mention it's gusseted? The fit of these pants is loose. I always buy 30x30 jeans and these are quite a bit bigger but the toggle adjustment is there to adjust the waist. The length is kinda long for my tastes when worn with regular shoes however perfect with mid to tall height boots (I like that streamline look). If they had a 28x30 or even a 29x30 size then I'd buy those instead but the 30x30 is just fine. As mentioned the overall fit is loose /baggy. I kinda dislike that as I prefer my knee area to be a bit tighter to reduce abrasion, noise, and snag but having extra space for additional undergarments/warming leggings is also nice in the case I take these pants to a colder environment. There are 5 pockets. Four are your typical front and back pockets and one cargo pocket. The right rear pocket has a retention flap to retain items from falling out while the left side is open allowing easier access. The single cargo pocket also has this flap but it also has two zippers, one being right under the flap as you would expect but the other zipper is on the front allowing an additional point of access to that one pocket. I'll have to get used to how few storage options I have compared to my UF-Pro pants although the minimalistic design isn't a bad thing. The biggest gripe I have with the pants is that the pockets are not large or deep enough. I have a iPhone 6s enclose in a otterbox case and the rear pocket is not deep enough and I personally don't feel comfortable with it hanging out even with the pocket flap over it. I keep my wallet tied to a S-biner that has the little lock, hooked onto one of the belt loops so I'm not concerned about losing my wallet but the rear pockets need to be deeper.I anticipate these pants to be great hiking pants as they are light, thin, and has some stretch for better mobility and dynamics. A friend of mine wears these on the same trips and field works that I do and more and doesn't seem to have any problems. I'll try to update on the durability and longer term impressions but overall I'm liking these pants aside from how small the back pockets are.

Great multi-use pants
Second pair I've bought. I use them as hiking pants primarily. They're fast-drying, light, and breathe well. Fit is perfect. Stretchyness is perfect. Pockets are good. They look nice enough to wear day-to-day, even with its generous pockets the style is subdued enough you can use them with dressier tops and shoes if you're in a spot. There's one picture of convertibles in the item description for some reason but these aren't convertibles, there's no horizontal seam in the middle; they have snaps at the bottom roll up the legs, which is a nice compromise. No doubts about durability or longevity.Downsides: They do tend to be a bit wrinkly looking when you take them out but smooth out after walking in them a few minutes, something something stretchy fabric I don't know. There's a waist cinch that works well enough over medium-short distances but tends to loosen itself gradually as you move. They have DWR coating but they're only just barely water resistant, they do decently in tall wet grass but they'll soak through fast in any amount of rain; however they're not heavy enough to get bogged down very much by water, and they dry very fast.

Excellent trousers for hiking or general wear
I boughtmy first pair of Prana Zion trousers after reading a review on outdoorgearlab, a brilliant site. They are a perfect balance: light and very stretchy, comfortable to wear, and they protect you in weather that brings cold, wind, or showers. They are not in any way waterproof, but if they get wet they remain comfortable, and dry very quickly. The fabric is quite tough and remains in great condition after hard use and many washes, unlike some other lightweight trousers that start to bobble after a few washes.Pockets are effective for daily use (not for maps or large items) although the light material means contents will print through. If you want really great pockets for everyday use, buy 5.11 Stryke trousers. These are my favourite trousers for cooler or damp weather.

Righteous Pants, OMG
I love these pants, no wait, I LOVE these pants, I would wear them all the time if I could. I Hike a lot, 10-15km usually 3-days a week after work. They are so comfortable even in 33C humid weather. Sure they soak up a bit of sweat but not too noticeable and they vent/dry fast. They don't rub, stretch well while moving, breath really well and the vent holes in the groin area keep the Beans and Frank cool. I have not hiked in major rain in these (i.e B.C), my guess is they are not very water repellent but I would take the breath-ability all day long in my Toronto conditions (i.e. not sitting in a tree-stand hunting in October). Now for the fashionable side, these pants also look GREAT. You can wear them anywhere, Church or Bar. I sometimes wear them to the office as I am hiking after and they can blend right in. They stretch beautifully, make my ass look great, groin look like I am packing more than it should, hang almost like a pair of slacks down the leg. Only the cargo pockets give them away. Compared to the "Columbia Ridge Pants", these are so much better at around same money. Fit was perfect for my 33 waist, as I ordered. Righteous.............Yes they cost more than jeans, I don't regret one dollar spent.

not very durable
i'm on my second pair. returned the first because the stitching along the hem was coming loose and one of the snaps to hold the rolled up legs just came off within about 3 wears. returned it, chalked it up to bad luck, got another pair. i've worn this pair for a couple weeks and the stitching across the mid thigh is already coming apart. for $100+, the build quality has to be a bit better in my opinion. With that aside, they're extremely comfortable, the built in belt is amazing, the thigh pocket having dual access is amazing, and all other pockets have great depth. If durability didn't seem so poor these would be 5 stars, but I just don't think these are durable enough to be marketed as hiking/outdoorsy pants. So unfortunately I'll be returning these as well and continuing the search for pants to fill this spot. 34x34 fit true to size, possibly slightly big in the waist which doesn't matter due to the belt
