it's some of the BEST money I ever spent
I was in the market to replace my 50" Pioneer Elite Plasma TV. I really was intrigued by my research online about OLED technology. That said I wanted a 75" set, and was not prepared to spend $20K on the LG 77OLEDG6P. Kids and college coming up sort of thing. I didn't know what to make out of the Sony XBR75Z9D, coming from a 10 year old plasma. I found LED sets to seem to produce unnatural/soap opera images to my eyes. The previous review by Diztronic on the Z9D pushed me over the edge, and I purchased it from Amazon last month.Let me tell you, it's some of the BEST money I ever spent. The picture clarity and brightness has me watching TV again like a giddy littleschoolboy! I really can't put into words how much better this TV is to my plasma. Worth every penny if you can afford it.I am able to watch 4K content on Netflx,, and its visually remarkable how the contrast makes the picture seem almost 3-D. Even HD cable TV and movies are stunning to view. My 16 year old son walked in the room as I had on Star Wars on cable TV. He just said "that's sick".The first movie I rented from VUDU was Doctor Strange. If you have a chance to see that movie on this TV, it's a game changer IMHO. The color rendition on this set is superb! Especially reds. Sure, blacks are not as good as my plasma, but they are darn near perfect to me. Everything I gained from this set makes it a no-brainer to accept that no TV will ever be the best in every category.I am so happy I own this XBR75Z9D. I wanted to write this review for all fellow plasma technology holdovers that are still on the sidelines and can manage to pay for this set. Jump into the pool my friends, you wont regret it one second!!!PS-Note to 4K content using internet. I had to upgrade my internet connection to high-speed with AT&T U-verse to be able to watch 4K content. I realized this after my purchase. Regular speed internet was only providing 1080p content. It might be my imagination, but everything seems a hair crisper with the high speed internet. Could just be my justification of paying $20 bucks more a month now :)

Very Impressive TV. (Important HDR Dolby info, Read)
I’m not going to get into a crazy long review because I’ve only had the TV set up for about 24 hours. I was coming from a Vizio M65-E0, which is a really good TV in its own right, but wanted some better for my home theater. The Vizio M Series has impressive contrast ratio, but sub par local dimming. The 4K HDR Dolby was not bad, just not bright enough for HDR.This Z9D blows the Vizio’s doors off. I was going to get a Vizio P Series Quantum, but couldn’t pass up the deal on Amazon for this TV.The 3D function is an added bonus, something I wasn’t really interested in because I hated 3D in the movie theater. 3D on this TV is actually quite impressive. The glasses are very comfortable unlike the movie theater glasses, which is one reason why I did not like it in the theater. If you wear glasses, you are going to need to put your contacts in, the glasses won’t fit over regular glasses. The one issue I have found so far and it’s not really a game changer for me, but may be for you, the X1 Xtreem processor dosen’t quite have enough power to handle HDR Dolby thru an HDMI port, only 4K HDR10. You can only get HDR Dolby when streaming on Netflix or Amazon Video, maybe other streaming services (haven’t checked yet). I am using my XBox One S as my 4k HDR BluRay player which only does HDR10 anyway and I had no plans to buy a 4K HDR Dolby 4K BluRay player. My home theater 5.2 system is thru regular 1080p BluRay (TV upscales even better than the Vizio) and I have a 2.1 sound bar for the XBox. (4K HDR10). Also only HDMI 2 and 3 are Full HDMI 2.0. HDMI 1 and 4 are only HDMI 1.4.Sony has released conformation of the Z9F with the X1 Ultimate processor, the successor to this TV with many upgrades, which is now why I know why I got such an amazing deal on this TV. This is my 4th TV in the last 18 months (kept selling and upgrading) but this is the TV I plan to keep for at least a couple years. I have always bought from BestBuy and picked up, but Amazon delivery service was amazing and handled with ease.I took off one star because of the issue with the X1 Xtreem Chip not being able to handle HDR Dolby thru an HDMI port.Changed to 5 Stars...The HDR problem is no longer an issue. It will do HDR Dolby thru an HDMI port (2or3) on this TV, and most Sonys pre-2019, and of course with a HDR Dolby device)) and with an update, the Xbox OneS and X now does HDR Dolby as well.

Sony Support, what a joke.
The media could not be loaded. I saw this TV at Best Buy and it blew me away, I had to have it. The first TV Amazon sent had a two foot crack in the screen, my second TV they sent was a Samsung. My third TV was just right, then I compared the picture with my 3 year old $1,200 TV.If nothing is moving then the picture looks OK but if something is moving it is pixelated and grainy. Faces look patchy, false color and out of focus. i.e. when a lady is standing you can see her facial details and her hair looks lifelike. Yet when she moves her hair blends into one color with no texture, her lips are difficult to read. A pickup commercial shows a stationary truck with the reflections off the paint but when it's moving there are no reflections the paint job just looks out of focus and patchy. So I call Sony for 30 minutes of technical support who blames it on AT & T u-verse. AT & T comes out and instalIs a new HDMI cable and new set top box, No help. I call Amazon concierge desk, they put me in touch with their technical support, I hook up my old TV right next to my new one. The picture is night and day hands down better with the $1,200 TV. I call Sony back and after an hour of talking to their level two support take pictures and video and email it to them. They call me back an hour later ( they analyzed my pictures and video's) and I spend another 45 minutes on the phone, they blame AT & T despite the fact my other TV looks great.Personally I think the "X1 Extreme" chip is not working at all. Non of the settings make a noticeable change in the picture, good or bad.Amazon was fantastic despite all my problems with delivery and technical issues. Sony will not send out a technician. I want this TV I have seen it in the Store, WOW. But I'm returning it, no exchanges for me because Sony technical support does not back up the TV.
