Diary of an Almost Cool Boy: (Not Wimpy or a Dork, just an Almost Cool Kid!): Funny book - Girls and Boys ages 8-12 Paperback – July 7, 2015

AJ is the middle child. He has an older sister, Jane, who is learning to drive and a younger brother, Taj, who has the gross habit of picking his nose. AJ's mom is a neatness and control freak, while his dad is laid back.Middle school readers will love the humorous situations in which AJ constantly finds himself. Cedric is the classroom bully, and the new boy, Hawk reveals a secret to AJ that will eventually enhance AJ's reputation. Readers will enjoy reading about the family foibles and mishaps, as well as the sixth-grade classroom escapades. There are a few valuable life lessons to be learned, but the plot is fairly predictable with few twists and turns.

There are some parts that are a bit dry and long, but overall, it was good.

This story was okay. It felt a bit like it was trying to be of the same caliber as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but fell short. The writing was average. Parts of the story were better than others, but all in all, it was pretty predictable, and nothing really stood out about the story. My grandson loves the Wimpy Kid books – I think I would recommend that he stick to those.

our 8year old son just loved reading this book. Here's what he has to say- I loved it, it's funny how they pulled pranks on each other at summer camp. And when they went home Sargent Ray said that next year if they came back they could be camp leaders and walked away laughing.

My daughter is 8 and loves this book series. She cannot wait for more.

It was funny at times but I found it slow and flat much of the time. Not a book that kept you anxious for what comes next. My 10 yr old didn't get it. I was just left feeling blah.

Not a great story.

Funny, quirky and a great read. Pre to early teens will relate well to this book. I enjoyed this story and recommend it to you.
