Got this book for college class but I absolutely love it. One of the best history books I've read. It was actually fun to read. If anyone wants a crash course in US History this is it. Don't like long boring chapters? Well these are short and the style keeps you reading. All the issues you see in the news today make you angry? Arm yourself with the truth by studying history. You will see in this book that we have traveled this journey before. Know our history through this book and not be led to and fro by by all the shouting! It changed my view and armed we with knowledge that I can tell a lot of Americans don't have when I watch the news.

Through reading I've been exposed to many 'key scenarios' in American history but never taken a course on the subject. Davidson's book is gracefully written, accessible and provides an excellent overview. Davidson puts the events into a conceptual framework in which the notion of equality serves as a critical perspective throughout. Davidson has written extensively for 'young readers' and this book reflects the skills he brings to that audience. That said, this is a book for all ages.
