Very sturdy and love the peace of mind this gives.Simple to install, though not necessarily easy if you've got to drill through tile or something similar, although that isn't the fault of the product.Works great and we've been very pleased with this purchase.

For less than $40, this is an EASY install and gives huge peace of mind.I have a backdoor with a window near the deadbolt that could easily be broken into. I bought this to buy myself more time (and hopefully hear an intruder if they come in). Unfortunately, my floor threshold is too narrow for the standard set up, but I flipped the metal, removable piece upsidedown and while it probably isn't AS strong, it still does the trick and fits into the grooved slot. I tried pushing against the unlocked door from the outside and it held well.I'm the most unhandy person you will ever meet and this was easy. I used a drill to make some small holes (smaller than the screws, of course), and then used a handheld screwdriver to drive in the screws.

The base plate needs to be screwed down to the floor. I predrilled the hard wood floor and used a cordless driver but the screw heads were damaged. I have to replace 2 of the screws that came with the kit. The installed product works well.

I'm not sure how people are complaining about the quality of this product. The metal is very thick (1/8") and there were no sharp edges? If you install it correctly WHICH IS ON YOU not the manufacturer! It will work perfectly if you simply follow the simple directions... I DID make the following changes which you may also want to consider: I put one in my daughters carpeted bedroom as a sort of "safe room" and I got extra long screws to go through the carpet and really seat into the floor solidly. Just a little common sense and worked perfectly. My only gripe was that I wanted to order two that were black and the seller would only sell one type per customer so I had to get two different colors? Pointless yes, but what mattered most to me was safety and buying an extra few seconds that very well could make the difference between life and death.
