Nathan James Theo 6-Shelf Tall Modern Bookshelf, Wall Mount Ladder Shelf Bookcase with Wood and Industrial Metal Frame, Matte White

I bought these as soon as they were available in early 2020, and I wrote this review then, but forgot to post it. The shelves have been up for 2 years and they’re still great.This is the perfect shelf for my closet—I was looking for the tallest, lightest possible shelves to fill the closet and hold a lot of boxes and books—and wanting the best quality for the price. Three units fit the width with about an inch to spare.I searched for quite a while before finding these—avoiding cheap IKEA and particle board shelves (flimsy/heavy). An acceptable alternative might have been wall mounted track shelves. These shelves here aren’t as cheap as the cheapest IKEA options. These aren’t perfect, but for the price, look, and purpose, they are great for me.The shelves were packed well and easy to unwrap, with a red ribbon to pull to open. A couple supports were scratched, but once they were in place, it was not noticeable. The shelf veneer was in great condition.When installed, the shelf seems very sturdy, but while being assembled, it’s a little flimsy. A few of the welds look rough—I hope they hold the claimed 55lbs per shelf. (update—after two years up, the everything’s holding up well)Assembly was easy, but I had to deviate from the instructions for this install, putting up the support bars first, then installing the shelves. It was not a problem to do this without any help.I also had to cut 3” from one of the supports to fit into the left side of the closet. I used a hacksaw and strong piece of hardwood to rejoin the support where it was sectioned.All the shelves are particle board (or MDF) and the wood veneer is synthetic—although so realistic I didn’t notice until I saw some repeated grain/knot patterns and took a close look. There’s texture printed on material so it feels like real wood. I wish the company was upfront about the shelf material because it’s described as reclaimed rustic oak. However, it's the most wood-like artificial material I've seen to date, so kudos.Next, the diagram on the company site showed the space between shelves as 12”, however, it’s only 11.5”—a problem for a few of my larger books.What would make these even better:I wish there was hardware to connect multiple units when they’re next to each other. (Some IKEA shelves, like the Fjalkinge line, has clips to hold the vertical supports in place.)And I wish the nuts and wall mounting screws were white, rather than chrome.Otherwise, great shelves, and I’m back to order more!

I recently purchased a wall shelf from Nathan James and while the shelf itself is absolutely beautiful, the condition in which it first arrived was disappointing. The box looked quite beat up upon delivery, and when I opened it, I was dismayed to find that all of the shelves had sustained dents and scrapes. It was clear that the packaging was insufficiently protective; there was no styrofoam, and the shelves were not tightly secured, resulting in them being all over the place within the box. This lack of proper packaging likely contributed to the damages sustained during transit.However, when I reached out to Nathan James, I was met with exceptional customer service. A wonderful associate named Claire responded promptly and helped me resolve the issue. After a few emails back and forth, I was informed that not only would the damaged shelves be replaced, but I would also receive a brand-new shelving unit free of charge. Moreover, I didn’t have to send the old one back, which I plan to keep for replacement parts if needed.Despite the initial issues, I must say the quality of the shelf is fantastic. The unit is very heavy and the shelves are made of great material. They are also wide enough to fit all of my living room books and a few decorative pieces, which is exactly what I wanted. The size is perfect and it is very aesthetically pleasing. Also extremely easy to assemble. I did it by myself in like 30 minutes, and I am 5'2 – 120 pounds. Something like this would easily be twice the price! I believe this is the dupe of the CB2 wall shelf that goes for like $500.Amazing service from Nathan James! Their excellent customer support has made me very glad I purchased from them. I will definitely be purchasing other items in the future and recommending Nathan James to my friends and family.

I live in a small apartment, so storage and display are a challenge. I purchased this shelf for showing off some house plants. The assembly and installation were not difficult, and all the hardware was included. There were no imperfections in the item, and it is very sturdy. It is perfect for my needs, highly recommend!

I love reading and have quite a large collection of books. Most bookshelves are designed for decorative purposes and not for readers. I was delighted to find these beautiful and sturdy bookshelves that had 6 shelves. They are easy to assemble and look great. I originally bought 4 and loved them so much I ordered 3 more two years later. I highly recommend them.
