Works for the basics
If you are looking to use the RCA output from your Digital tuner, or Xbox/game consoles, to show on your average 17-21" VGA monitor with a Dsub15 pin cable, this is the product for you. It is good for regular HD TV. I attached this device between my 21" 16:9 wide screen and the RCA video plug of my Xbox (original). Then I worked through some of the six buttons (more than shown in picture), unplugged and re-plugged the power,.and the output picture was sized and centered on monitor with no boarders. For less than $25 it works beautifully for me. (interestingly it came in an exactly matching box to my VGA to TV converter) I like that it is powered by a "Wall Wart" type power supply and not just a USB cable for power, so I can use it with the computer off. The power is required to pass signal through from all of the three sources and you do have to press the select switch to change between inputs. With my six foot cables I did not notice an video signal loss. However my windows 7 laptop was not able to detect it for use as an extended desktop. but that may have just been my laptops limitation. If you are looking for professional quality and high resolution, you will possibly want to buy the three digit priced converters. But if you want to share your monitor with your computer and home video products this works.

Ooops
I just put in a review for this seller in which I said this product didn't work as advertised. Unfortunately, I confused this product with an earlier attempt to solve my Wii display problem. I wanted to use a ViewSonic VA721 monitor which I had purchased for an old PC, and no longer needed, to connect my Wii in my home office. The first product I ordered died after one minute's use. I did some more research online and at Amazon, and then decided on this product, as I was not planning on connecting a hi-tech device. I had no difficulty connecting the Wii video to this converter, and the display is as good as the Wii is capable of delivering. The Wii is not an HD device, and I don't expect HD output. My monitor has an automatic adjust feature, so I did not need the adjustments that this adapter offers. I did play with the controls, just to see if there were any other adjustments I wanted or needed, and was satisfied that they operated as advertised, but the ViewSonic automatic display feature was as good as the best adjustments I could make manually. My monitor has a power switch, so the lack of a power switch on the converter box is not a problem. I had to buy adapters to hook up the Wii stereo outputs to my old PC speaker system, but that was just a quick trip to Radio Shack. I am very satisfied with this product. I was even more satisfied with the seller. The product was shipped on the day I ordered it, and arrived promptly. I have used it for a couple of weeks now, and it still works.

Composite Video to VGA
There weren't many cheap options out there to convert RCA composite video signals to VGA.This does it well. This enables me to use my old computer monitors (with VGA inputs) to display signals from any composite video source. I have used it to display Wii, DVDs, and it is currently converting non-hi-def cable box to display on an old flat panel monitor on my desk. It is small (size of a pack of cigarettes) and it stuck nicely to the back of the stand that holds my monitor using double sided tape. Now the old monitor from my closet has new life because it can accept signals from my cable box, Wii, or security cameras.Quality is good.It runs warm, not hot.The upscaling is decent. Not as good as the quality you would get from a tv.The menu system is basic and very straight forward. It outputs a variety of resolutions from 640x480 up thru 1980x1080.I set the output to the native resolution of my monitor for best results. Also, adjusting the picture sharpness through the menu system can drastically change how the picture displays. There weren't many cheap options out there to convert RCA composite video signals to VGA. I just wanted a cheap converter so I could use an old monitor for something useful. This beat the heck out of paying $100+.I am satisfied with my purchase and would purchase again.

Pretty good
Overall I would say this product is good but not quite great. It does the job it claims to do and converts my component video from a PS2 to a VGA output that I can use to play old video games on my new LCD monitor. For that purpose the video is as good as any I've seen off my PS2 so Good job on that. The image sometimes gets displayed wrong but the auto calibration on my screen takes care of that most of the time. The VGA input seems to make the signal just a bit fuzzier. Not enough to notice for a short time but there are some slight artifacts and very slight blurring. Not enough to make anything unusable, and often not even enough to be annoying. If I wanted a good signal I wouldn't be using the VGA input anyway. The resolution setting don't seem to change anything for my PS2. It's a bit annoying to only be able to cycle one way and there are a lot of choices. This means that if I accidentally hit that button I have to cycle through it for a long time before getting back to the resolution I want.I want to end this by stressing that the few complaints I have are very minor. For the price I paid here, this product is absolutely beyond my expectations. You don't pay much but you get more than you pay for.
