I'm a drinker...
I'm a heavy drinker. I bought this unit based on it's reviews for it's accuracy. I'm disappointed. Granted all (I've done my research) commercial Breathalyzers I've researched seem to have their quirks- take a deep breath then blow slowly, don't inhale then blow normally, etc. I don't even know at this point if police breathalyzers can be considered legal, because they all, at least the commercial ones, seem to come down to these rules- you can't consume any alcohol, food, drink or cigarettes within 20 minutes of the test. Now, as I've said, I'm a heavy drinker, and I'm 43 years old, but I've never had a DUI, or any alchol related encounter with the police... but based on this weird 20 minute rule, I'm going to assume that the police can't even give you a breathalyzer test until 20 minutes after they've stopped you... does anyone know if this is what they do?

5 stars for customer service.
granted i have only used it "thrice"...but here it goes *UPDATED*FIRST DEVICE1 - tried when i first got it. blew a .000 so passed the sober test...happy with those results....2 - at work went out to lunch had two drinks came back (buddy drove) then 2hrs later when i left it blew .012 and my mandatory "$1500" car breathalyzer blew a .000 so not sure what it was picking up.3 - blew it next morning did blow a .000 but screen only half works have to squeeze the device to get it to work....it sat in my glove box for two days...how the **** did the screen go bad??UPDATE: a sales rep saw my dissatisfied review and replaced my unit without charge. i don't know many companies that would do that so for this action alone i have given the unit 5 stars. did notice the 2nd unit has working screen and blows and accurate .000 when not drinking so will have to update as a use it more.SECOND DEVICEworks like a charm. tends to match up with a app i am using to monitor my blood alcohol content and every time i blow .000 my car one confirms i am sober. you can not beat the price or the size. i highly recommend this to all my drinking friends and plan on getting a 2nd for my motorcycle.if you have any questions i will be glad to answer.

comes in handy
I decided it was time to buy a breathalyzer after hearing a horror story from one of my clients (i am a hairdresser and hear quite a lot) about her brother-in-law meeting a friend in need at a local watering hole to console him. Her brother-in-law was not a drinker, nor ever drank or driven. During the meeting, he consumed only two drinks, and ate a full dinner. Because the friend in need was too drunk to drive, brother-in-law figured he'd take the friend in need back to his house, less than a mile away. After pulling out of the restaraunt, a policeman pulled them over, and the interaction led to sobriety tests, then ultimately arrest! Brother-in-law's first offense ever, even though he blew the limit, resulted in 5 days in jail and over seven thousand dollars and probation. First offense people. So, after hearing that story, I jumped online and did a little research, and although I didnt realize how small and simple it was at the time,(about the size of a key ring fob)I ultimately chose this breathalyzer based on reviews, and the price. I like that it uses the same technology that the police use in thier breathalyzer. When I first opened it I was suprised that I had payed almost seventy dollars for it, and it was a little confusing how to use it at first. But with a little practice, it's not complicated at all. It really comes in handy for when I have people over and the next morning whomever had too much to drink and is still visibly tipsy, all I have to do is make them blow, and they retreat back to couch- and thus making the world a little safer at that moment. It really is surprising how much alcohol you can consume and still think you're fine. I would reccommend this as a personal assistant, but I wouldnt rely on it to judge whether or not to drive if it registers even half way to the limit. Another thing is that for it to be accurate the directions say to wait 20minutes till after your last drink to use. Then, if you want to check it again, you should wait another 20min between readings. This can be really annoying if you are in a group of peoplewho have been drinking. They all want to try it because they think its a toy! Do not allow this or it will ruin the calibration and you will have wasted all your money, and possible help from this lil' guy avoiding a catastrophe! by the way, read the instructions fully before use. This is a must, or you might become frustrated and think its not working properly. Don't give up, once you get it, its a breeze.
