Instead of coaching players like robots in training, Curless uses diagrams to illustrate strategies for every position. He provides an alternative to negative coaching methods by providing insight into positive reinforcement throughout training. He identifies algorithms for technical challenges that may occur during play. Curless offers a method for effective practice intervention to correct the probable causes of these challenges. As a psychologist, Curless offers a unique way to foster change within players by taking coaching to the next level.

I have read numerous soccer coaching books, but this one is by far my favorite. Curless gets straight to the point and explains what skills are needed during different moments of the game. He also provides entire practice sessions which allow the players to get the necessary repetitions and appropriate level of challenge. Just buy the book. It's worth it.

I like the breakdown and illustration of proper techniques and positioning. I never realized how important it is to have the players get their body in the correct position prior to performing a technique with the ball. I've learned a lot and wish I had learned these techniques and way of playing when I was young.

This book provided step by step exercises for every move a player needs to learn. Photos are very helpful.I like the fact that the Author has a A license for coaching as well as a PHD in Clinical Psychology. All the information Author has gained through studies has help create this wonderful and complete book.
