Got this as a cat toy, perfect to keep the cat occupied for a while. He can swat it around and there's no damage and the bug just keeps going. One of the dogs also joined in on the chase. At first I was afraid the dog might swallow it, but the fact that it continues to buzz, makes him drop it after trying to hold it in his mouth for a bit. The only downfall of the Nitro 5 Hexbug is that they have the top lil legs/antennas( so that it can climb up tubes). However, for my purpose, which is just letting it lose on the floor, I find that it gets stuck more often under objects( trashcan, oven etc ) compare to the older version that doesn't have the lil legs on top. To fix this we just cut the rubber legs off. It's super easy since it's a soft rubber.

I swear this could be the best cat toy ever--especially after giving my bugs a makeover. I opened the battery compartment of the first bug, stuck the tail of a typical cheap mouse toy inside, closed it up and voila, a lifelike moving mouse. Quickly they were all converted. I'm guessing you could attach basically anything this way. I was able to not dismantle one toy and just use it's own wire hoop to attach to the small internal screw and it still worked wonderfully. In fact, our bugs got more attention the more dust bunnies they picked up along the way. My cats don't want to play with anything if I'm at home to guilt into entertaining them, however these definitely piqued their interest and kept them occupied for at least 15-20 minutes. I have to give it 5 stars and just wait for my guys to come around...

I re-order Hexbug nanos when I find them on sale. They are terrific cat toys! I often set one or two out while preparing my cat's meals -- they stimulate her prey drive, get her to exercise, and distract her enough to cut down on her yowling for food. I just have to check frequently to make sure they don't go under appliances, because retrieving them from under the stove or fridge is not my idea of fun! The batteries can be replaced easily if you have a jeweler's screwdriver. These don't work on carpet, but for carpeted rooms try letting them loose in a box. Only the most timid cats will be wary of these, but I think they'll become irresistible to any cat.

My cats love these and you can't beat the price with the nitro 5 pack. These are entertaining and make amazing cat toys. I attached a random tail-like object (feathers, sections of shoelaces, pieces of destroyed cat toys, string, etc) to the battery door (unscrew the battery door; put the item under the screw; re-screw the door to secure in place) and it becomes an instant cat toy. Drives them bananas and they are too big for most cats to eat and too rugged for most cats to do any real damage to them! Just be sure to cover up any small gaps on the floor so you don't lose them under or behind appliances/furniture. Love that they can flip themselves over or keep going when totally upside down; so even if my cat catches it, it still keeps him chasing. Only 2 minor things to improve-upon: 1) these only work on hard surfaces, so i can't use them in the living room; has to be in kitchen or someplace like that. 2) have to keep dogs out of the room when these are on, as they try to eat them - not safe for that at all as they have batteries and hard plastic pieces.

These are so cool! I got this idea from somebody else who said they use these with their Catit Senses Super Roller Circuit (1.0 & 2.0). I can’t wrap my head around how a tiny vibrating toy can go in one direction, more or less, like a speeding bullet and turn back over when on its side or back! These things are fast, if you don’t have it in a contained area it will disappear! Watch my video, I demonstrate at the end how it will turn itself back over and you can see how it will travel inside the cat track, even though I did not take the ball out it still goes pretty fast pushing the ball. I’m going to put together another track for just this bug without a ball in it because my kitten loves this track with the ball. However, neither of my older cats want anything to do with the bug, and as you can see in the video my kitten is scared of it. I’m hoping if I show it to him for a few minutes every other day or so that eventually he will be OK with it. But I think the problem is the noise it makes. I think kids will definitely love this. And any fearless cats. I would not use it around dogs as it is bite-sized.

These are in the top 3 best electronic cat toys I've bought. The HexBugs move around in a fairly realistic way. Jittery, mostly circular but somewhat random. They move around the same way whether they are right-side-up or upside-down. When on their sides, they still move a bit, but they don't get far--which resembles a beetle that's been flipped upside-down. There are five different HexBugs in the package. Each one is a different color, and their movement patterns are somewhat different. One of them will play dead for a few seconds once in a while. HexBugs are small enough to crawl under the sofa or other furniture, where they can get stuck and run out the battery. That's probably the biggest downside. One solution is to place them inside a plastic bag and leave that on the floor. My cats love to paw at HexBugs through the bag. HexBugs are great on flat surfaces, but they get stuck on plush carpets or other uneven surfaces. They make a soft buzzing noise. They use LR44 batteries, which is annoying, but worth it. Batteries are included.

I bought this for my grandson's 11th birthday. While he was playing with them his cat ran out and grabbed one and dashed into hiding with it. He came back to get another one but by this time the kids were watching for him. So the Nano Bugs became a great cat toy as well as fun for the whole family. they are really amazing. They last quite awhile on a battery. The batteries are so cheap it is no problem to replace them. Well worth the money I paid

Bought these for the cats to play with but the cats are scared of them. But that's the cat's problem, not hexbugs' LOL

Great fun. Saw these being used with Magna tiles and bought some for grandson. Turn them on and they’re off scittering around. Cool stocking filler.

Two already came dead, other 2 died subsequently. I tried changing the battery with brand new ones but nothing...

El producto funciona como esperaba. Salen bastante bien ellos solos de cualquier sitio (enganches con cortinas o cables aparte), se siguen moviendo aunque vuelquen... Silencioso, rápidos y entretienen a mi gata (aunque no se atreve a atacarlos aún), así que perfecto. Veremos lo que duran las baterías.
