Fired well and truly up!
This audiobook was my first introduction to this novel, as I haven't yet read it in either ebook or paperback format, and I'm still fairly new to reading--or rather, listening--to Anna Durand, so getting to know a story for the first time via audiobook is a whole new experience for me. However, as I'm now getting familiar with Anna, I knew I was in good hands and the listening experience would be a good one. This is also my first time listening to an audiobook read by Mackenzie Cartwright. Mackenzie's reading of the first chapter was intriguing enough for me to want to listen on to the rest of the audiobook as she brings the character of Mel to life in our ears. Again not being familiar with the novel, this is my first reference of the character and from what I've heard, Mackenzie embodies the character of Mel well and was a joy to listen to.Teddy Hamilton was a change when it comes to the kind of male audiobook reader I am usually used to. His accent portraying the New York accent of the character of Firefighter Adam Caras, was something that took me a moment to get used to as though I have read several books which were based in New York, I've never had the pleasure of listening to the accent through headphones before. Again, I'm not familiar with the character of Firefighter Adam Caras as I haven't read the ebook, but if I could imagine at least audibly what the character would come across like, Teddy is Adam Caras. His voice helped again bring the character to life for me and along with what I can imagine what Adam would look like visually, I can now put a voice to the character created inside of my own head.Things certainly got fired up with this read, that's for sure. And although I have a penchant for the kilted gentleman, I did enjoy this story and its different change of pace and scenery.Would give this 4.5 stars if possible. Definitely worth a listen if you're up for something that will turn a smouldering fire into a true literary blaze!
