Best in darker colours, average in neutral. Beautiful sheen that can't be mimicked elsewhere!
I'm a bit torn over this product as I do like it in some colours, yet in others, not so much. I first purchased this in Serpent de Mer and Seven Sisters through Rituel de Fille's website. They arrived in tiny plastic containers featuring a hexagon shape with the eye soot packed in tightly. The opening is very small, large enough for my ring finger to go inside or a small brush; applying with fingers is recommended. For some, this could be cumbersome, but for me, I didn't have much of an issue as I do prefer applying most creams with my fingers anyways. The eye soots are technically cream but not "creamy", taking on more of a dry consistency. However, this consistency allows you to have a product with SO MUCH PIGMENT. One swipe with a light hand was honestly more than enough colour, but to create more of a dramatic and gradient effect, I decided to build it up, which it did with ease. The end result was a high-pigment eyeshadow featuring a beautiful sheen that can't be mimicked elsewhere. I WAS IN LOVE!Because of the high pigment, I decided to purchase additional colours afterwards. This time, I opted for something a bit more natural and neutral that I could wear for a "no makeup makeup" look. Half Light arrived and it was exactly what I had been hoping for, something subtle. Due to the buildable nature of my other eye soots, I had assumed that I could easily build up Half Light to create a bit of a gradient effect towards the outer corner of my eye. Unfortunately, I found that this colour was very difficult to build up.All in all, I feel that this product shines when it comes to darker colours, yet for more natural and neutral colours, you do get a pretty, "inner glow" effect BUT you won't be able to add on intensity.

Perfect color for blue eyes
This stuff is amazing! It's the perfect shade of a rosy taupe/beige, it's hard to describe. It goes very well with my blue eyes. I've been trying to find a great cream shadow for a bit now and most of the others I've tried have been very hard, despite them being a "cream" and it feels like I'm pulling very hard on my skin. This is easy to apply using either your fingers or a brush. It's truly a joy to work with. The opening is small so there's no way for me to use my finger (I've got nails that make it impossible). Even applying with a brush, it's still blendable with my fingers. It's easy to build on so you can achieve a darker color in the corners and crease. This can be used as an eyeliner and I've applied it to my water line without any irritation and stayed there for a long time. The color is perfect there in that it darkens the lash/water line without it being too obvious. Good for older women or those wanting to achieve a natural look.I included some pictures to show the color and just how small the container is. I included the jolly rancher for scale. With how little you actually use, a little bit goes a long way, I would expect this to last a really long time.Despite the small opening and the higher price point, these will most likely become the only shadows I work with from now on. I can't wait to try some of the other colors, a big 👍to Rituel de Fille.

From an organic/natural makeup user
I have switched my eyeshadows for organic/natural shadows due to my eyes being extremely sensitive to harmful chemicals. I used to be a hardcore Kat Von D fan, but I couldn't use her products after learning about my sensitivity. I prefer darker aesthetics, but I'm also a minimalist who adores neutral tones. My skin tone is fair/pink (lightest shade RMS, lightest shade W3ll People) and this compliments my skin tone very well, giving my lids a slightly darker shade, depending on how much I use. Like most shadows, Rituel's Eye Soots go on darker if more is used, and sheer if a light amount is used. I also loved to use this as an illuminating highlighter to create a "strobing" effect along my cheekbones.Note that the product is tightly packed in its container - you can use an eyeshadow brush, but I personally like dabbing my fingertip and patting on my lid and crease, then blending it with a brush. It isn't exactly a cream, nor it is a loose powder, but it has incredible staying power throughout the day and stays in one place without creasing or cracking - it's smooth and dry texture makes it easier to build up the color, or use it more sparingly. It sounds like the way I apply would be messy and unconventional, but it works like a charm every time and I use this color quite often. I'm really excited about purchasing different colors (right now I have Seven Sisters and Sigil).

best money i've ever spent
i looooooove this eye makeup. everything about it. it has the perfect amount of shimmer/shine - not junior high sparkly, just enough to catch the light and really bring your eyes out. the pigment is beautiful, a little dab will give you a perfect subtle pop of color that will last all day, or you can build it up and get a really striking, unique look that will stay with you through the wee hours of the morning. i haven't had any issues with it smudging or smearing, but i don't tend to fuss with my eyes once i've applied makeup.when i apply what i would consider a light amount (i just use a finger to dab it on, works perfectly), it has a stormy purple/gray hue that makes my green eyes look fierce, but you can easily layer it on to can get more of a deep bronzy purple. because it's not overly purple, it blends and compliments well with pretty much any other color scheme. i have fair skin with pink undertones and coppery/strawberry blond hair, and blue toned makeup tends to work really well on my skin, but i honestly think this color would work well on any skin type or eye color. it's build-ability makes it extremely versatile and a little goes a long way, so i feel like i'll have this for a while. totally worth the money.
