Can You Make This Thing Go Faster?

Sadly not worth it
I preface this by saying I am an American. I lived in Britain at one point and I try to keep up on the news there. But there were parts of the commentary in this book I couldn’t appreciate as I didn’t really understand them and that’s on me.I’m familiar with Jeremy Clarkson. I watched and enjoyed a lot of Top Gear and I’ve read a lot of his previous books. The reviews I’ve seen here describe this one as more of the same. And there is truth to that. But I found there to be a lot fewer light and funny articles in this. Top Gear was mostly a happy show. But Clarkson seems to lost a lot of that. There are a few funny articles and several that were really interesting. Overall though it seemed like the commentary is just well written sad and angry ranting. It wasn’t what I was hoping for.I don’t say this because of his politics. I am okay that not everyone agrees with mine. It just seemed like the joy has gone out of his writing. Unlike his other books I won’t spend any time reading things to my family out of it and I probably won’t read actually this one again. Which is too bad.Your mileage may vary.

Classic Clarkson, albeit some of it does not translate to America
Clarkson is one of the great satirical writers of current day and this book does deliver on his classic with, perspectives and humor. Some of the pieces do not translate to American as they are based on current British events or politics which most people in the US do not follow and have no context for. On the plus side, Clarkson is refreshingly, and unabashedly, politically incorrect and probably would have been canceled long ago if he were an American. If I lived in the UK I would give this 5 stars. I'll give it 4 only because some parts do not translate globally and Jeremy is indeed a global superstar.

Maybe you have to be British.
I knew going in that I was buying a collection of articles he wrote. It is a quick read and there are funny bits. However, my lasting impression is that he hates Jeremy Corbyn. I know who Corbyn is, in a general way. However, since I am not British and don't really follow their politics. Much of the intended humor missed with me. Still a decent read if you enjoy Clarkson.

Super entertaining as always
I’ve read everything Jeremy Clarkson has written and this book is as good as them all. No nonsense, entertaining from start to finish, had me laughing like every book of his before it. He is the master of metaphors and his humorous take on the absurdities of modern life are bang on as always. He says what others think but are too afraid to say out loud. He’s a real one off and always funny and honest

So disappointing
I love Clarkson's musings as a rule and my expectations were high for this latest offering. This has fallen way short of those expectations. He appears to be going out of his way to be offensive, which really isn't funny. Subject matter such as paedophiles and Charity workers abusing vulnerable people is not high on my list of amusing subjects. I purchased it on Kindle and would otherwise return it for a refund.

Wonderful read that will make you laugh!
If you like what he's written before, you'll love this book! Jeremy uses his usual wit to touch those subjects we all want to discuss but are too afraid in his own unique way. Great read and I would recommend this to everyone if you want to secretly laugh inside!

Brilliant style
Although English is not my mother tongue and I don't live in the UK I bought the book as I had read several newspaper articles written by Clarkson. And I was not disappointed. It is just so funny! Sometimes I don't exactly know what he's talking about when I don't know particular persons and/or circumstances but his brilliant mode of narration, with all the huge exaggerations he loves to use, being brutally honest at the same time - I'm just deeply impressed. Whether or not I share his opinions, it doesn't really matter. Entertainment at its best I think.
