Pootie Tang

Highly underrated movie
Supposedly this movie was butchered in editing and it’s not entirely like a “real movie” but it’s perhaps the best “bad movie” I’ve ever seen. The concept of a rapper who speaks a made up language and fights crime by whipping people with his belt is funny. You’ve got JB Smoove, Wanda Sykes, Chris Rock, the actor who plays Pootie Tang and Jennifer Coolidge fully committing to these ridiculous characters. It could work better structurally but everyone I show it to laughs a lot and has a great time. I’ve watched it at least ten times and maybe I’ll watch it some more.

Definitely has its moments
Pootie Tang played by Lance Crouther is a recording artist who stands up for his community against the man which in this case is a corporation run by Robert Vaughn. The movie is just ridiculous from start to finish such as when Pootie Tang deflects bullets with his ponytail to recording a song with no music or lyrics. The movie flopped at the box office but it stands up to a lot of the comedies and spoofs of the time. Now I could do less with Wanda Sykes commentating every couple scenes but otherwise it definitely has its moments.

The movie is funny and its comedy genius makes great viewing!!
I love the movie Pootie Tang its fictitious storyline is fun and I can appreciate many of the farfetched witty lines and comedy scenes through out the movie. The actors and actresses that make this movie what it is today and my love for the main star Lance Crouther's keeps me watching this movie for many years to come... Wanada Sykes, Chris Rock made it so worthy to watch giving it that addded humorous touch...I will continue to view this movie years from now..The music sound track made this movie really special also, many GREAT songs performed and the group singing the theme were really special ..I really love watching this movie.

An excellent Blaxploitation comedy full of life lessons.
I am a fan of 'I'm Gonna Git Your Sucka," and this movie is even better. I couldn't stop laughing. Wanda Sykes was hilarious. Chris Rock was brilliant and versatile, playing multiple characters. Even Bob Costas was funny. I really enjoyed watching it.

Pooty is legit
If you like watching moving pictures, and you haven't watched Pooty Tang... ask yourself, "Why have I watched live action movies? Should I have stuck with cartoons?"People think a lot of dumb, boring movies are classics. Movies were invented for Pooty Tang. (mic drops)I do wish it was a G-Rated experience though... only *minor* complaint

One of my favorites!
I love this movie, perfect performances and Wanda Sykes is completely adorable. Favorite line: "You think that just cuz a girl likes to dress fancy and stand on the corner next to some whores, that she's hookin?"

Great DVD if you like Pootie Tang
Bought as a silly stocking filler because it was directed by Louis C.K. And the recipient loves Louis C.K.Delivered in excellent condition.I wouldn't openly encourage anyone to buy this dvd as I heard it was rubbish - I even think Louis C.K. Is embarrased to have his name put to it.

Pootie Tang will draw you a picture of how he gonna kick your ass, then mail it to you ten days in advance. The picture gets there right? You're goin', "What the hell is this?" and then Pootie Tang knocks on your door, Promptly kicks your ass and you still won't know what happened to you!Pootie Tang, the musician/actor/folk hero of the ghetto, is chronicled from his early childhood to his battles against the evil Corporate America, who try to steal his magic belt and make him sell out by endorsing addictive products to his people. Pootie must learn to find himself and defeat the evil corporation for all the young black children of America, supatime.

So bad, its nearly great.
Yup! Three stars for a film that on one hand gave me some of the biggest laugh out loud moments I've had in ages and which attempts to pay tribute and affectionately parodies some great moments of blaxploitation cinema. On the other hand, its very short ( a blessing actually), runs out of steam after 20 minutes and lacks any sort of direction for long parts of it. At times, I'm sure the cast weren't aware the camera was on or where it was. But there is something strangely endearing about the whole calamity. So all in all, a great laugh for 20 minutes if you can get it for under a Fiver. Wadata!
