Great for those learning how to hook a ball.
I am no where near a professional bowler, yet I AM a regular bowler. I've been bowling for fun for about four years now, and bowl twice a week in leagues. I also coach the varsity team for a local school district, so I know a thing or two about bowling.I am a righty that throws a reverse hook, so my experience is going to be different then your average right-handed bowler. This ball was originally recommended to me by my house pro (who also believes I should stick with my reverse hook). Originally, I got this particular ball because I didn't really know or understand how to hook. Because of the shape of the weight in this ball, this ball will hook 98% of the time, even if you don't want it to. It's very hard to bowl a flat ball with this, and it's not good for your 7 or 10 pick ups (whichever one is hardest for you). When I leave up 7 pins as a righty with a reserve hook, this ball is a nightmare because it always moves right at the end, unless I have juuuuuust the right shot. (Although it's a beast at picking up the 10 pins, again because it's meant to hook.)I began my journey with a 12 pound ball, and moved up to 14 now that I've been bowling for a few years. The 14 is still a bit heavy for me. Also, since I don't throw a fast ball (usually 9 to 11 MPH), this ball will hook early, especially in warmer weather. On my 'off' days - since this ball is really meant to hook - I will miss the pocket or luck out with a Brooklyn shot. I had my house pro change the grit of the 12 pound ball so it goes a bit farther before hooking, and I will be doing the same with this 14 pound ball. It does help, especially since speed is not my strong suit.Every person is different, and I suggest speaking to your house pro before making a decision. Also, the smell is reminiscent to cough medicine, but it is a cool ice breaker. The pink/purple (birthday cake) one smells better.

Hook potential and reduced weight.
Light hook with increased speed enabled by lighter weight. Good as spare ball where precision is required.
