Not compatible with XC90, No support
It can read various systems except the engine for the XC90.Contacted support, sending description and photos of the error details. They prompted to upgrade the software and try again.I did, but with no result.Emailed support again but no response to multiple reminders.I would not recommend this scanner for the Volvo XC90

Your way to know what the dealer knows
This little scanner is great. Aside from being a regular OBD-II, it has custom software for Volvos and Saabs to read all of the things that are special to the brand. This scanner adds ability to read ABS codes and SRS codes, which is huge, and it reads all of the electronic things that regular OBD-II doesn't read. You need to have a little knowledge or want to learn, because knowing the code doesn't really get you anything, but if you are willing to get your hands dirty, it will allow you to diagnose a failed sensor and replace it. In my situation my 2013 Volvo S60 T5 had the ABS and DSTC lights on, as well as City Service Required. The dealer wanted $195 to read the code and tell me which sensor it was. Once I knew the sensor, I bought a genuine Volvo ABS sensor from the dealer for $105, and put it in myself. The dealer, like I said, wanted $195 to "diagnose" (ie, do what this scanner did), and then if i replaced the sensor with them, they would have charged $485, crediting me the $195 for the diagnosis. So for the price of this scanner (I think it was about $110 when I bought it), and $105 for the sensor (could have gotten cheaper OEM but I was in a hurry), I fixed the problem and turned off the ABS and DSTC lights. The City Safety light stayed on, but with the scanner, I found codes for closing velocity sensor, and yaw sensors, and a bunch of sensors I didn't even know existedwhich I believe were all downstream codes from the ABS sensor being bad. this scanner was able to clear those codes and the City Safety light was now fixed. I also found a bunch of codes for all sorts of rear lights and doors, which I realize are from when my rear windshield was replaced by a glass place, and when door actuators were replaced by the Volvo dealer - and those codes could have cost me $$ at resale time. So if you do any of your own work, it's i nice tool to have.

That’s what I need for my 2009 XC90 V8
I had BlueDrive scan for others vehicles but doesn’t work fully. This model is designed specifically for Saab and Volvo vehicles. I called the local dealership for ABS light on and was told a diagnosis scan would cost $160, not including any fix. So I decided to buy this scan. It took me a few minutes to identify front right ABS sensor failure.Very simple economics, one single scan pays off the cost to buy the scanner. The only problem I have is when I try to update online, somehow, the website does not recognize the Serial Number (S/N) on the scanner.

Will pay for itself quickly
Used with a 2005 s60 non turbo. Resets the srs urgent message nicely. Takes a moment to find it buried in the many menu options but it's there. The software update instructions for this are not clear. The book is not true to form but the video on icarsoft's support page is quick and accurate. Follow that.More more reset or diagnostic and this will have paid for itself.Reasonably solid assembly, average or slightly better than average for a general code scanner. Excellent display. Seems well built and should last as long as the vehicle with reasonable care. For the $140 paid it is not unreasonable and is worth it for a committed DIY'er.
