I needed a longer power cord for my big HP printer. I tried one I had at home and it got too hot to touch while the printer was starting. I ordered this and it's working just fine. It doesn't even feel warm during the heavy draw while the printer starts. I don't know what size the other one was, but this definitely supports a printer that requires 10 amps without any issues.

Aloha, It’s confusing, all IEC C-13 to NEC 15-P cables are rated for a maximum 15A of steady state current. They all use the exact same plugs and physically differ only in the size of the wire between the two ends. Most use 3 conductors of 18AWG wire, some use 16AWG, The. TrippLite P007 series uses 14AWG wire. You can pay 2x more for Hospital Grade featuring 14AWG. You can spend a great deal more on “audiophile grade” cables with gold plated contacts and electrically welded 12AWG. Maximum current limits for the cable assembly equal the rating on the terminal contacts. Larger diameter wire reduces the tendency to generate false power supply faults. High current surges with small wire reduce the peak value and the time duration of a current pulse, more energy is wasted as heat. As the wire diameter goes up, resistance goes down and transient performance improves. This author feels the Eaton/Tripplite P007 series provides the best value in a heavy duty cord set. There are real world issues. If your high power audio equipment has a persistent power protection fault, you can use this cable to make sure a wimpy 18AWG power cord or daisy chained power strips/extension cords aren’t at fault. If the power supply capacitors don’t charge quickly (in milliseconds) the equipment processor may detect an under voltage condition and enter protection mode. NOTE: If you have cycled power more than3 times, some equipment, like Yamaha Receivers, will go into a locked protect mode and require a CPU reset to recheck for faults. Mahalo James

Built with the same high quality & specs of the one which shipped with my PSU. Fortunately, because the PC was placed elsewhere from where it was originally intended, I didn’t have to use it, so have a great spare for when needed. Looked over at least three other cables before settling on this one, as it fully matched the one that shipped with the PSU. This is important with such power cables to ensure safety. There were certain reviews that made this the obvious choice. Never use lower rated power cables on PSU’s & other electronic gear, as these can melt and/or even cause a fire when under heavy stress.

Product has met my expectations. Functionality, length, cord size, and connection quality are all present.
