Lexivon- Competitive and affordable!
First I’d like to mention that this is the first axe I’ve ever purchased. I’ve usually used my dads in the past but it was time to get my own. I purchased the 28-inch chopping axe. My main use for this has been splitting logs in my backyard so I can have fires in my fire pit over the summer. I will say that this axe has exceeded my expectations. It slices through and split seasoned/dry wood beautifully. If the wood isn’t fully seasoned/dry you might have to give it a few good hacks but it will eventually go. I’ve even hit the handle on accident a few times right below the axe head and I haven’t noticed any cracks or damage because of it. The feel of this axe is great in the hands and the rubber grip is comfortable. I really like the fiberglass composite handle it seems very sturdy and has taken a few accidental blows. The weight feels perfect, not too heavy and not too light. After you give the head a nice little sharpen it just eats through wood with a powerful swing. I’d definitely recommend sharpening it before using it the first time, it doesn’t come very sharp from the factory. It even comes with a handy head safety protector that has a handle on it. I paid around 31 dollars for this axe with a discount on Amazon and I will say this is a solid and affordable piece that is competitive with a Fiskars axe that costs 15-20 dollars more. Great value for money so far! I expect this to last many more summers. An avid and extremely experienced wood chopper/splitter may notice some differences/ have some gripes but I’d assume this will work and perform perfectly fine for most people.

Beast mode
2 seasons later and this axe is still a beast. I have sharpened it after every 1/4 of cord. Cuts through 32 inch logs like nothing. I’m 6 1 240 lbs and this axe is worth every penny. On the larger pieces I need to take full swings to get through on one shot but on 8 inch and smaller it barely needs a touch to spilt.4 cords so far all spilt by this. 36 inch model highly recommended for guys my size

Great and affordable hatchet
I was looking for a hatchet size axe head that is light weight for hiking, and yet I want to use both hand. Originally I was set on Fiskar X11. Its quite hard to find and price is almost double, so I settled on the V18. I was told it is not made in USA, but at least its made in Taiwan, not China (for those don't know, there is a fine difference between the two!)First impression:Most of the other reviewers are right, the first impression isn't great, forging mark all over on the head, and the edge is dull, unlike the Fiskars which is ready to chop out of box. With a cheap kitchen wet stone, within minutes its gets sharp, after 30 minutes its paper cutting sharp. During the initial sharping, I skipped the stone and hit the edge , it rolled a little which gave me some doubts.Edge:Took it out to hack over some kindling, I was immediately impressed. I been using a 14 inch no name brand home depot hatchet for years, had to baton it to split. The V18 split logs into kindling effortlessly. Just to test the edge, I attempted to chop a log side ways and baton it, the edge held up very well. The instruction provided advise you not to baton this axe, so do it at your own risk.Handle:I use ranger band to increase grip for most of my wooden axe handle, but this handle is hollow and light weight, with good texture on it. I double I will need to put ranger band for this one. Time will tell if this handle will last.Sheath:A little wobbly, the plastic is quite flexible. I don't like it but it does the job.Overall:For the money, you can't go wrong with this. For the price of X11, I can get both V18 and V18S. Any axe and knife can roll after long period of use, a working axe need to sharpen regularly. In the coming weeks I have some projects coming up and this axe will be abused. I plan to update this review soon after. If it survived I will update the star rating, and maybe getting the V18S just for splitting firewood!

A Great Axe, With a Great Price
I have been doing a lot of cleaning up around the house, and one of the tasks that I have been doing is removing old grape vines and some smaller stumps that I have been mowing around. I had an old axe that I sharpened up and took care of a few of the pesky vines and young tree starters. Well, great until the wooden handle snapped on it after a few good swings, granted the axe was never designed for rotted stump removal. Was shopping around for a new handle, figured I would want to go with a fiberglass one, but the cost of some of them were more then this whole axe! So I went ahead and ordered this guy, and oh boy is it a great axe. It's got the right amount of weight to it to chop a lot. Granted, I am probably not using it as intended with chopping grapevines in the dirt along with some older stumps and newer tree growths. Still though, chops great, holds its edge great even with the abuse I've been putting it though. After a good 3 hours of chopping vines, stumps, and other brush it still has the ability to chop chunks out of tree branches.
