I know my late husband would say that it isn't necessary to have a pretty set of knives. But having sharp knives is an absolute necessity. He kept our knives very sharp.When I tired of dull knives, I bought an inexpensive food processor. I should have bought the knives first, but I couldn't make up my mind. I had another set of knives in my cart while I continued shopping. The moment I saw these, I had to have them. It was a gamble because there weren't many previous reviews.The knives arrived in that difficult to open packaging, but intact. For a couple days, I cut anything and everything into smaller pieces than I normally would, just because I could. I ate a lot of tomatoes, because I could cut them so neatly. And it was really a joy to cut my homemade bread without having to use my noisy electric knife. I can no longer say that I MUST have an electric knife to cut thin and straight slices of bread.These knives feel very nice in my hands. The two knives I most wanted are the chef's knife and bread knife. But I haven't had a chef's knife that comfortably fit my small hands in years. I didn't know if buying over the internet was a smart idea because they might feel just as awkward as dull knives. I'm glad these knives caught my eyes - they continue to catch my eyes each time I reach for them. The pretty design makes me smile. I should have bought pretty knives long ago.Believe it or not, I use my food processor more now that I have these knives. I would always procrastinate about cutting vegetables, especially potatoes, small enough to fit the chute. Part of my hesitation was fear - dull knives are dangerous. Dull knives are also work. I was constantly leaning into the knife to use the weight of my body to cut. I'm petite, so that was a losing struggle at counter height. With these knives, I don't have to make room on my utility table to place my cutting board.I'm not a knife expert or a chef, but I know that knife selection is personal if you spend a lot of time cooking or baking. What feels like a balanced blade for me, might not fit someone else. I rarely eat out, so I'm doing most of my own cooking from scratch. This means fresh fruits and vegetables have to be cut, not just opening a can. For the first time in a while, I cut a large raw sweet potato with almost no effort. That's a very good feeling. Now I am motivated to improve my knife skills, not just make do.These knives are sharp and look pretty enough to make a gorgeous gift - perhaps to someone like me who enjoys gifts and also enjoys adding a little color to their kitchen tools. I hope the smile I feel using these knives will pour out into my food for a long time. They feel durable from the tip of the blade to the handle, so chances are good that I'll be updating this review after I have used them longer.The set is not expensive, so if you are sitting on the fence, or need a backup knife set, I think this is a worthwhile buy. You will thank me later.

My mother has owned a set of these for about 6 months now and she really likes them so I decided to order a set for myself. They are well made and cut well also.
