This ceramic piece was hand-thrown using a manganese-glaze. Crystalline glazes create distinct crystal growth within the fired glaze. This is relatively difficult to achieve. For this to occur, the pieces must be fired for an extended time at higher temperatures to allow time for crystal growth, and these specialty glazes must have the correct chemical composition. This piece was fired in an oxidation kiln. The glazes were handmade. It is a unique color with fairly large crystals that are quite visible. This will be a striking complement to your home decor.
